My guess would be Sylvio. Might be worth a look for the horror fans out there. Reviews on Steam are mostly positive but it's more mixed on Metacritic.

Starts in less than 12 hours now.

Current hints:

  • The next game is available DRM-Free on: Mac, Windows
  • Includes a Steam Key
  • Game Genres: Adventure
  • The mystery game retails for $12.99

Doesn't match.

The fifth clue say it has "two ov", which I'm taking to mean that "ov" appears somewhere in the name twice. Also, the regular price for Portal 2 is $20, not $10.

This is a tough one... Finding "ov" twice has proven to be very difficult.

Hmmm that looks interesting. How does "two ov" from the clue figure into it though?

Do o and v have to be next to each other twice in the games title?

I don't know, it's a bit vague. All I know is what I pasted above from the IGS site.

Thanks for the guesses everyone! Was not familiar at all with Parallax until just now. Looks cool though, I think I may have to consider it when it goes live.

This is a bit confusing. The original convo was 4 months ago, so what are we discussing now?

Seems like it would be better to start a new thread rather than editing the old one.

With that said, you forgot to include the hint that says: "Ghost recorder Juliette Waters finds herself trapp", which does point to Sylvio. If true, that would be an INCREDIBLE deal for $1.00, if that is the minimum. It may be that, like they did on a past deal, they set the minimum higher for a game of that caliber.

That info was added later. Clues get unlocked as more purchases are made on the previous deal. I basically knew what the next game was ~2 days ago.

Aha! I knew it was too good to be true! The deal for Sylvio has a $5.00 minimum for a Steam key. This is just a regular sale.

I would have been willing to pay $2.00 for a Steam key, but $5.00 does not impress me.

The one good thing is that you can pay as little as $0.25 for the DRM-Free version.

That seems reasonable, I would have to agree with that. The $5 minimum for a Steam key is ridiculous. I am surprised that they did that. Oh well, more than happy to shop elsewhere.

I wouldn't normally say this, but if everyone paid only $0.25 as a way to protest I wouldn't even blink.

If this was the new normal for IGS, then I'm through with their site.

I've had an open support ticket with them for 5 months now that I've replied to every other week on about qbqbqb's devs apparently removing the ability for people to download the game they paid money for from their site (on top of never receiving a steam key for said game). Their only response so far every single time has been "Oh, well, that's odd, we'll ask why the devs did that."

After about my third email, you'd think they'd say "You know what, people paid money for this through our site. It makes us look bad. We should either issue a refund or get to the bottom of this instantly." Instead they just never respond past that.

Horribly prices + horrible customer service = me going elsewhere.

That's messed up. I had a similar experience with Groupees and the game Nekro that was featured in Be Mine 13. The developer invalidated everyone's keys that they had purchased and made everyone jump through hoops to get them replaced. It took the developer months to even get back to me. I tried multiple times. Meanwhile the whole time I was wondering whether the dev was just trying to abscond on their responsibility to what they owed paying customers. Eventually I received the replacement but it was ridiculous how long it took. And Groupees didn't do shit about it, despite me following up with them regularly. Will never buy anything from that developer again.

are you serious ... I would have thrown a dollar or two for a steam key... but $5?????????????????????? T_T

That's what I did. $0.25 is 98% off the $13 Steam price, just without the Steam key. If I'd tried to bta for the OST I'd have put myself in the category of potentially being unwilling to buy the game again sometime later down the road when it's offering a Steam key at a great price. That was even when the bta was still around $1. When the bta shot up to $2.48 proving that there are actually people crazy enough to pay $5 for that game (despite how good it looks), that was the clincher. $0.25 it was; lol dev, who had the last laugh?

Not if it rubs enough people the wrong way and it actually hurts them in the long run. I can't speak for others but it will stick in my mind and I will not soon forget. I would have respected the dev more had they not forced such a high price for what is supposed to be a PWYW deal, and has always been advertised as such by IndieGameStand. They should have just made this a regular sale in the store and put another deal instead. That said, lets see what the final sales numbers end up at. How much is worth alienating potential future customers, whether for this game or a subsequent project?? IGS could stand to ask themselves the same as well.

Ok update on that sale, turns out the system wasn't fixed for the deal to be $5 min for the Steam key until later; turned out I was able to get a Steam key for the standard $1 min, along with select others, even though it said $5 on the buy page. So I actually spent $1.25 total and got it listed twice in my IGS wallet, but it was worth it once I heard I could get the Steam key for that cheap. Only thing I missed out on is the OST, but maybe I can get that anyway in the game's install folder.

lol, dev is overoptimistic on this sale. It's so hard to even for me to buy $1 deals from them and they want $5 for this?

Damn, and it looks quite nice! But 5$.. That's only 61.5 % off the original price. Need at least 75% for me! :P

I'm thinking about investing in the "Make it a bundle" next week ,since that's only 6$ , and then I would get the previous one, the current one, and the next one. Seems to be more efficient than just buying Sylvio alone.

Or maybe the price for the 'Make it a bundle' will increase next week shrugh .. decisions, decisions.

That would have been true, however if you try it is actually $9, not $6 (despite what the page says).
