Just a few days ago I noticed my Garry's Mod was deleted, then Sine Mora and now I just noticed Tomb Raider Underworld as well.. I played these games, they were downloaded since a while so I just don't get it. The HDD seem perfectly fine no errors whatsoever.

It just did with at least 3 of my games. I'm not here to convince you, I'm here to know why

Yeah, it happens to me as well. You just need to "redownload" these games and they will be ok. I don't know what's the cause though.

sometimes the games just appear to be uninstalled i feel due to an error in steam recognizing the games location. 99% of the time if you hit install it will discover the already downloaded files, take 10 seconds, and your game should be back to normal.

this happens to me about once every 3-4 months, but it has yet to do anything negative other then waste 10-15 seconds

Tried with Garry's Mod and it appear you were 100% right. Had to redownload a few chunk and good as new apparently. Thanks for you answer.
