Is that a good idea for a new rule?
Just create giveaways with "better" CV level. Problem solved. :) Or if someone has good level and still is in leecher ratio and u don't want give him another games, use blacklist...
(i don't like leechers too, but if you set this "anti leech" rule as legit site rule, you can expect much crying about it.

** You stand to reap a mighty side benefit when you 1). Focus on the giving and let karma work for you, 2). Make GA's much higher than your level, 3). Stay consistent.
As someone mentioned before I did, people can achieve level 6 exclusively with bundled GA's, but achieving level 7-10 will dig much deeper into your pocket.**
All this was what we stumbled on while giving away games. We weren't doing it for the exclusive "secret society groups," or to get on people's whitelists, but they did happen for us and now the wins roll in. I have to admit it is nice to win, but we treat that as a happy bonus. My daughter won 12 games in the last 7 days. All from whitelists and private groups she was invited to for her efforts to give to level 6-10.
Honestly, I don't understand why greedy people aren't making more exclusive high level GA's.

no we don´t need more rules....we indeed need some rules with less room for interpretation, but this is a different story.
What you demand is more or less more options for setting up giveaways. Like not only a level, also a minimum ratio. A minimum number of giveaways created and so on. But as a general rule....seriously more rules that nobody cares about.....

I have not heard cg state why he/she/it created the site, to be honest. The reason of simply giving gifts does define to whom and why.

So you think you are more entitled to win because you have a better ratio ?

bye a present for your friend for a cristmass and send him bill

They would leave the site, no doubt about that. Especially if they are being forced to contribute.
Also less people, less ad revenue

I take this as you don't use Steamgifts Gold right now.It gives you extra chance to win giveaways, private message to the slaves mods and every month Zelghadis will write a dedicated poem for each subscriber. ( I think he can be the next Shakespeare)

As long as we can't differentiate the people who can't buy or can't afford games from the ones with leecher mentality, it's a bad idea. And just to throw some dirt on myself as well: how's that worse if one gives 1 and wins his 20th game while owning only 30-40 than me winning another one? While I enter only for games I intend to play, at some cases they would end up in a better place by getting won by a leecher. I think as long as you can make filter the people you don't like to win (CV limit for users who don't give, invite only groups for ratio, activity or other special things) we're good. I don't think it's a good idea to make a fix rule about such a negligent thing. ( Jackass users and rule-breakers are more of a problem than "leechers" )

No. There should (and will never be) any sort of punishment for people who have chosen not to contribute.
This site gives users the ability to list giveaways to exclude those who have not contributed. The person who is giving away the game has choices to restrict users from entering the giveaway (level, groups, private, black/whitelist). If the person giving away a game is not happy with the winner, they should not have allowed that person to gain entry.

I know that feeling bro. I was and I am complaining here for a looong time about leeches ( :> ) but for different purpose - not activating previous wins...
If you want to give something on public - level 5/6+ have usually (!) less leeches. Unfortunatelly... less =/= nobody...
If you want to contribute in any way - I suggest groups with ratio requirement and whitelist.

Same here, but I was talking about some group who will only accept you if you are level 4 or 5, and that would solve the very problem you are now facing because as a rule at that level there are less people who have won tons of game and given next to nothing comparatively.

This site is not a gamble site, but a giveaway site. That rule would be horrible. I prefer to giveaway a game to someone who has little possibilities to buy the said game and plans to play it, than to someone who has a lot of games out of which he only played 10. And again, we should point our negative energy towards people who break the rules, not towards people who don't create giveaways!

well. When i open steamgifts.com on chrome, top there , on the page name, it says " Free Steam Games and Steam Keys"
Also, there is people like me, for example, who giveaway some games when the price is right, and when we can. The games we get on steam are region locked, and in bundles the prices aren't 'that good ' compared if we get one by one in promotion on steam. I am talking about Brazil, btw. We get in the mix, if you think about. For some people, steamgifts is the only way to get games,if not, people go for piracy. So, is really hard to apply your ' new rule' :S (1 US$ is 4 RS$, its really a LOT )

Not sure this belongs in the Off-Topic section. Also, like everyone else said, CV levels are enough to keep out leechers if you feel so inclined.

That's cool, thanks! But I should still do it. I think I'll get started right now.

I think this can do more harm than good. Some leechers may decide that if their main account became useless for them, it's OK to make several alt accounts and farm games even faster.

You do realize that every single one of us was "leech" at the beginning? Of course, some just were there for 5 min that takes to create first GA, some for a couple of weeks while they were figuring out things around here and some for longer because of some other circumstances you are not aware of. It's not up to us to decide when anyone feel comfortable (or even able) to contribute. If you want have strict control over who exactly can enter YOUR giveaways - steamgifts offer more then enough tools for that.
Edit: I meant more common term of a 'leech' as a person who haven't contributed anything.

Edited for clarification. Still stand by my post even if consider 'leech' as someone who won hundreds times more then gifted. Being generous should not be forced. Being lucky should not be punished. Don't like such people winning your games? You've been suggested plenty of possibilities to avoid that.

I also gave something away before I won anything; it's not always the case. That said, I do think new believers should be treated with some level of charitable trust. However, I don't think anyone should be forced to give anything away. That's outside what I think the spirit of the site is about.

Edited for clarification. Completely agree with 'no forcing".

I know you all hate them, because they snap away all the good games but never give something to the Community. I mean Leechers, which e.g. 40 Giveaways but only gave away only 1 game worth almost nothing.
In my opinion there should be a Rule, that forces such leechers to do giveaways, even if it's a 1$ game, when they won 10 times more games then they gave away.
I'm doing more and more Giveaways for higher Levels (atm 2+) and i always see there people gave aways 5-10 games but won at least as much as i gave away (over 80). i feel scammed because of that, not because i just won about 30 games, i'm okay with that, because i want to give more than i win.
