You're wrong, or thinking about the commercial laptops. I've been using a gaming laptop for 2 years now. I've played a lot of AAA games with no issues at all.

Depends on the laptop company. My MSI is getting up there in years, but still doesn't run hot. I don't even need to increase the fans usually unless there's a bunch of dust inside. It's actually due for a cleaning.

Never had any overheating issues with my SAGER. I've always used a cooler pad and I even get to overclock the graphics cards a bit. Either a "gaming" laptop, or LACK of cooler, or bad user use.

I have a DELL Inspiron 5537 that runs Battlefield 3 or 4 pretty smooth with high settings.
It get hot but, since you don't block the air flow, it become pretty acceptable (it gets even better when I use a cooler base).

i7 2637 with a gtx 540m was barely able to get close to 30fps after many tweaks in this video: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vrJ330NGjCU So, I doubt your laptop will be able to get close to the 30fps mark. It will look terrible, also. :(

Thank you for your replies (to above and below). Much appreciated.

Hmmm, good idea (if they capture the video with an external video capture device)

I don't think it will run that well. I have a GTX750M, which has twice the vram (not sure about the other specs) and I struggle to run it (15-20 frames, playable, but barely). I would say that you're probably going to have a hard time with stuff, even on minimum.

I could not tell if your computer would run this game. Not always the indicated minimum settings are true to reality. I have seen some cases where even without the minimum configuration was possible to run more or less heavy games. I even finished Tomb Raider on a computer without video card. You can try to run it using the account of a friend who has already purchased the game and thus make sure that work on your computer.

I found it sad the game has a system that crashes the game if you don't have minimum requirements. I was able to run Mad Max which requires higher specs, but I can't run this game because it black screens whenever I start it. It's stupid. I just want to play the game I don't care about my FPS or how smooth I run it :/

Hey there!
Before i return to my university town, i want to buy Witcher 3 but i'm not sure if my PC (actually laptop) will handle the game properly. Since i don't have any idea about hardware and can't compare in last few years, decided to ask all of you.
Here is my rig:
AMD A10-4600M APU⋆ + AMD 1 GB VRAM (Radeon HD7660G⋆⋆ + Radeon HD7510M⋆⋆⋆)
8 GB DDR3 RAM (1600MHz)
5400rpm SATA harddisk
Windows 8.1
⋆APU = CPU (kind of... AMD call this serie as "APU")
⋆⋆ HD7660G "Devastator"@Techpowerup.com (Technical details)
⋆⋆⋆ According to GPU-Z 0.8.3. Technical details
Sorry, no giveaways. Generally people anticipate giveaways in that kind of topics.
