Would you like this site to support inline images?
+1 for "put image where it is".
I'm not sure why you made "I want both" an option. Implementing this feature would not disable old way of putting things, user would just need to put images at the bottom of the post. And all images being hidden by default should be kept mandatory.

Most web forums don't hide images, so I don't see why it's so obvious this odd behavior must be kept mandatory. Especially for illustrated guides and other complex posts, with visuals that illustrate the content, it makes way more sense to make images visible by default.

And trust me that I'm getting really annoyed when I enter some thread where somebody decided to post hundred of GIFs or other images.
The way it's now on SG is excellent, because if I'm interested, I'll click the link to see mentioned content, but when I'm not, I can read text in peace without getting disrupted.

Although I don't personally see this issue in the forums I frequent, I can understand your concern. There's at least one thread here which would become difficult to use if all images were expanded (eeev's selfie thread).
The problem is that keeping images always collapsed as they are makes it impossible to write illustrated guides that are as easy and inviting to follow as guides posted anywhere else on the web. One way to solve this need without the risk you're describing is to allow images in the OP of threads and giveaways to be expanded by default, and keep replies as they are today.

I just took it from here:

Good point, having an option for both never occured to me for some reason (i blame me feeling a bit sick and not "on top of my game", so to speak, lol).
...which makes me realize i didn't even read all the poll answers fully, so i guess i learned something else too. Hm.

I agree with ET3D :) Let us put the images wherever we want but still make it clickable to collapse :)
Although I think the images/gifs still load, even if they are hidden. I sometimes use verrrry slow connection and when I open threads like You're not alone it takes ages to load. When I click on an image, I see they're not loaded yet, so I assume the page loads all of them when it is opened and not when we collapse the image.

Yeah, I spent some time writing cool posts only to see them ruined after posting because the images all sunk to the bottom. Not cool, man.

Couldn't agree more.
I wanted to have a little collage of pictures from a recent forum discussion about what people collect, and was so disappointed that you can't format pictures in line with the description.
Please, PLEASE include a fix 💋

The way Parsedown is configured in this forum, images always appear at the bottom of posts and are collapsed behind a "View attached image" link. This works fine in many cases, but is counterproductive for more complex posts (e.g. guides with screenshots illustrating the text, or posts about visual subjects). How about allowing inline images to be used? It is supported by Parsedown.
