Personally, I only enter GAs for games I actually want, so I say thanks whenever I win something because it's pretty awesome! But I know some of the community say thanks every time they enter. There are even GA creators who blacklist people who don't. Does that mean the thank you message is just a formality and means nothing? I don't know.

What about you: when do you say thanks?

Do you say "thank you" every time you enter a giveaway?

View Results
Yes.
No, only if I win.
No, never.
Thank you.
Potato.

I don't like to post random comments on giveaway pages.
If the GA creator asked something, I'll answer.
Otherwise, depending on various factors, I'll just say something witty (probably causing some laughs).
Whenever I discover someone who whitelisted me, I'll stop by to thank them (and whitelist them if I haven't already).
Of course, I feel compelled to say thank the rare times I win.

The are people who blacklist you for saying nothing, and there are people who blacklist you for saying anything in a giveaway, i usually comment if i feel the need to say something special (as i think the standard "thanks" has become as to say nothing at all) or if i win (which i think should be normal and i honestly don't understand people who don't). If anyone doesn't like it, he can always tell me to, not like i wouldn't listen to anything^^

Eh, sometimes

Depends on what's in the description, if there's nothing i usually won't put anything in there
If theres anything in there, i will put a thanks down (unless it states thanks aren't needed then 'm8 let me tell you why you deserve the thanks')

I changed my thanks to a heart sign and I post it in every giveaway I enter, and honestly I don't like when people don't post anything and enter my giveaways. Is it so hard to write even "ty" it has 2 letters, or put some smiley face?! I don't think that's too hard to do. If giveaway creator doesn't want to read it he can easily just press mark as read button.

A lot of people say that if you post something like that you are basically a bot and they will BL you :p

Funny thing is, when thanks messages was a hot topic, most vocal anti-thankers were also mass-enterers not mass-creators. So not a big loss )
Besides, most ppl that don't want simple thanks either states so in description or post a conversation starter.

I say it on various occasions. For example, when someone hold doors for me, or when someone gives me something. It really depends on situation but I try to be nice sometimes.

I used to say thank you on every ga that i entered (also only entered for the ones that i really wanted to play, not for the ones that i know i wont touch) but some people actually get annoyed by the notifications so now i only say thanks if i win (if the creator wants some gif or song i try to put something always)

"WAKE ME UP

CAN'T WAKE UP
WAKE ME UP INSIDE
SAAAVE MEEEEE"
if there are a million comments all saying thank you
