I posted a give away 2 days ago that was 150P to join at the time and the "steam cost" was $350+ for the DOW2 Franchise Pack.

Today I look and it only costs 40 P to join and the "steam price" is down to $40

I have a few questions.

What determines "contribution amount"?
Do those who entered at 150 get their P back?
Since the new bundle is $10 why is it now 40?

They probably downgraded the value of the franchise pack since it's so cheap now.

pretty much this

But I would think the values should be set at the time of the giveaway creation?

What are you saying? The Franchise Pack was always 150P. Later on they decided it was not that valuable anymore, so they lowered it to 40P. Any giveaways for it from after the start of the Steam sale for it will be downgraded to the new value.

Did you read the original post? He created the giveaway 2 days ago when it was $150: http://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/oUuCo/dawn-of-war-franchise-pack

Yes, I did. I still don't understand what he's asking. "I would think the values should be set at the time of giveaway creation?" Yes, they were set at that time, but then they were changed.

nope, it change with the price. If the price falls (also after the end of the giveaway) your contrib. value falls too if I remenber right.

Not necessarily true. It doesn't change with steam sales. It only changes when the admins decide it needs to be changed.

The P for a game is based off of the current regular retail price in the Steam store, regardless of when it was created.

Also not completely correct. DotA 2 was free to play, yet worth ten points. I'm not sure if there are any other exceptions, but it's still true that the admins decide what the point value for a game is, not the steam store pages.

Dota is a beta anyway. It's a special case.

My point was that it might not be the only special case. There's the possibility for more.

This isn't true. The contrib value of games is always set to the non-sale price of that game on Steam. If the non-sale price goes down after finishing the giveaway, then your contrib value goes down.

I just said "it doesn't change with Steam sales." Your contrib value goes down when the admins decide it does. That's why if you giveaway a game and a month later it's included as a bundle game, your contrib value won't decrease for it.

No, your contrib value goes down when the price in the Steam store does. A lot of people were affected by this recently when The Darkness II went from $50 to $30. It changed automatically, cg doesn't sit any monitor price changes every day and manually update.

If you paid $150 for the bundle, you should receive 150 points. Simple as that. No arguments.

Raise a support ticket, including a scan of your $150 payment, and DEMAND that justice be done.

Also, bang your fist on a nearby solid object (tables are exceptionally good for this), and make threatening gestures if that's how you roll.

Don't settle for anything less, and don't accept any bullshit.

I'm not claiming to have paid that much, I do think it's unfair that some people entered my giveaway for more P than others and now I am getting a huge amount less contribution than I'd have received if I had set the timer to 1 day?

-The people who entered before will have their points refunded.

-Even if the giveaway had ended after a day, your contributor value would have gone down. I believe it's based on when the sale started, so any giveaways created after that point will have their value decreased, even if they already ended.

Like I said before, the contribution would have fallen anyhow even if the giveaway would have had a shorter timer, because is retroactive.

So you're saying that if someone gave a brand new game right now in 2 years their contribution would be $5?

Contributor value expires after a year. So it doesn't matter anyway.
