Hi guys and gals. I've got a problem with the Gun Runner's Arsenal. I bought it, have the base game, but got a message that says I don't. Wrote a ticket, but you know, maybe you can help me. I've bought the base game on the european version of gamersgate (paid in €), so I don't know what's the problem. Oh, now I see that the DLC that I bought has something like that in the description:

Fallout New Vegas: Gun Runner's Arsenal (RUCIS)
The famous weapons manufacturer, Gun Runners (blah blah)

Is this the problem? RUCIS? Is it a russian gift? I bought it myself from the Steam store, and I'm from Poland. WTF?

yea I guess that's the problem and it only work for the RU and CIS versions, but I don't know how you got that version when you're from Poland thou...

OK, I'm gonna ask a stupid question here but did you enabled the DLCs? When I first installed NV and F3 I had to manually enable the DLCs.
Now, to view the DLCs on any Steam games you need to right click on the game -> Properties and check the DLC tab. For me (I have Ultimate edition) the Gun Runner Arsenal has 3 versions there: the ENG/ROW version, the Czech version and the Polish version and I assume the game uses the one that matches the game. Also, this is the only DLC that has other versions, all other are world wide DLCs.
Now, to enable the DLCs or to view what DLCs the game itself recognizes, run the game, go to Data Files in the launch menu and make sure everything is checked.
Sorry if you already did this but it's the only thing that came to me right now.

Well, I don't have the DLC in Data Files in the launch menu, because I can't even add it to my library, from my inventory. I've wrote a ticket already with the information about the wrong region version. It's sad, but I think that I can only wait for them to answer in a few days and then remove the wrong version and give me the one I should have.

My suggestion, buy the Ultimate Edition off of Steam right now. It's cheap.

I have the same problem with Dishonored. I believe we're generally fucked by Bethesda's regional bullshittery. Here's what happened to me in a nutshell:

Bought Dishonored in the GetLoadedGo promo, it said it was a region free version (WW), so I had no intent to believe that it would cause me any problems. Bought the DLCs from the Steam Store, all 3 of them, and it turns out they are for a RHCP region, which has a different app ID on the steam database, causing them not to "see" the base game, and rendering them useless, siting in my inventory.

Never was I informed that the GetLoaded copy had a certain region to it, nor that the Steam DLCs are also having a different region to them. They sold the game like normal, and I'm here unable to activate those DLCs because of that. I also wrote for Steam support (since auntie Beth doesn't take mail unless you're from the US or the UK in their support section, bless their heart), but knowing their reaction time, my summer sale money probably went to waste there, and I probably won't be able to

  • 1) activate the DLCs in the next few months, or
  • 2) get a refund for the shit I can't use in the same time frame.

Bottom line, if you EVER plan on buying any Bethesda games, NEVER consider getting only a base one, always get the full extra versions if you buy from different webshops. They seriously need to get rid of this shitty region lock policy.

As for fnv, its more liek language lock, not region.

RHCP is for "Russia, Hungary, Czech Republic, Poland" in this context.

Fallout:NV is one of those games that have a different appid in certain regions (RU/CIS, Poland, Czech Republic), which means "western" DLCs are incompatible with it. Same with Dishonored, for instance.

Heh Bethesda Game Studios (well technically it's the Zenimax building) is only a few metro stops + short walk away from me (I only know this because I bought a limited edition lithograph from them and wanted to get 3 specific signatures; ended up being able to get 2 at PAX East but had to go to the studio to get the third... brownies = instant access [okay well I set up an appt. to and got to see a bit of in-development art assets as well]). I would offer to clunk some heads together but they aren't the ones who set all the different lockouts, various versions, etc (plus that would probably rule out my chances of being invited to their yearly Halloween party =/). Good luck, hopefully Steam/Valve hires extra support agents during major releases/sales/etc (one can dream).
