Here is my "dream game":
So this idea is kinda a combo of all of my favorite things in video games. The game would be set in a fantasy world with creatures like Elves and Dwarves, as well as Humans. Each of these races would be factions, controlled by a player, or King. The game would have a large open world similar to that of Skyrim but each faction's terrain would be very different. The point of the game is simply to defeat the other players and take over the world. Each King would be in charge of all of the faction's units, able to tell them what to do and where to go. The King would also be able to make alligences with other factions and establish trade links to factions. Each faction would have its own perks (Dwarves gain extra materials from mining) as well as its own faults (Humans starve easier). Each faction would start with three bases that the other factions would have to capture. It would be possible to set units up for ambushes and plant booby traps around your territory, and send scouts into other's territory. You would need to gather food and materials in order to maintain your workers and troops, as well as create new ones. Each game would last apx 10 hours and require all players to be present when playing.
Obviously this idea is very rough and has a bunch of faults, but I'm interested to see what you think. Ideas and suggestions are appreciated.
EDIT: Not gonna include myself in the poll.

Never heard of it... gonna go check it out.
EDIT: Thanks for the comment, the game looks really interesting. May consider getting it.

-1 I stopped reading after "The game would be set in a fantasy world..." We have more than enough games with fantasy settings already. Time for something new and fresh, methinks.
Comment has been collapsed.
In a sense you're right of course, everything is derivative of something in some way or the other. But in this specific case, I guess I just wanted to vent my disdain and boredom of generic fantasy settings that have been done to death.

I would like this if it was first person, not because I'm a CoD freak (I hate CoD) but more because I like seeing it up close and personal, controlling an army while you are IN the army...

Sorry, it's just that GTA does nothing for me. But I know I'm probably in the minority here.

You mean being able to create whatever you want in a GTA sandbox style world? Sounds like it'd be a shitload of chaotic fun! ❤

MMORPG with different roles. People who liked town management, such as those who play Gnomoria, or Towns, could be in charge of managing the settlements. Warriors could actually be played by real people, who long for combat, but the game could have different time zones, for those who prefer guns and shooting to swords and slashing. People who like dungeon crawling could do that all the time, and not care, maybe even open a shop in a settlement to sell what they find, a la Recettear. The shop element could even extend to people who like TF2 economy mechanics, and could span from there.
Comment has been collapsed.
This is actually a great idea if fleshed out well. I'm just worried about the people who would troll the shit out of things like economy and management to break the game.
Or build penis-towers. You could also see that as an improvement of course.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's why you could have private settlements, for your friends, or just people you know to be good, sorta like a clan system, with sub-organisation in it. Take a look at the combat organisation of Planetside 2 right now. You can play alone, but the best way to play is definitely as part of a large group.

Actually, this idea is kinda AWESOME! If I would ever want to create MMO(the thing you described is clearly NOT only RPG), this idea will be among others to consider. thx!

A game with hat (cosmetic item trading) like TF2 where you run around a map with your character and challenge randoms to a fight. When the fight commences, the camera switches to a side view so you can play it like a fighting game (e.g. Tekken, Street Fighter).
Maybe add an option to fight with an item on the line so the winner gains an item from the loser.

BEST FPS: Bohemia Interactive, Valve and DICE working together to make the best fps ever, Bohemia will work on realism, map and all the weapons (attachments, etc.) DICE will provide the engine for destructible map, vehicles, etc and since valve hired several mod makers (dota from WoW) the can hire the people who made DayZ in this game as a direct content in the game (survival). Idea for game name? World War 3: Apocalypse. This would allow users to switch between the normal fps mode (matchmaking, browser search) or can go to a zombie server just like bo2) players would be about 500 vs 500 to simulate real war with squads like BF3. Sorry for my bad english, im Indonesian ^_^ (btw check out this f2p game on youtube its on steam greenlight http://www.youtube.com/user/drunkenlizardgames

I'd love to share multiple ideas, but I am still trying to make it true actually, and can't risk someone stealing the idea!
BUT! One of those ideas actually came true already for me, in the form of Star Citizen. I have dreamed for such a game for a long time, so if you want specifics, do yourself a favor and watch every video available on it, including the 1 hour long presentation (the best video of all), and pre-order it!
Actually, now that I think about it... I think I'd love a cross between something created by Sid Meier, with pirates, and with the naval battle system of Assassin's Creed III, which is probably the best ever. It needs some tweaks, but it's still great as it is.

That game looked awesome, I backed it as soon as I saw it on Kickstarter.

Didn't really thing of it as that, as the game would be part of a prize for a contest. Removed it anyways.

What's the point of a prize if you don't give it yourself?

I was wondering how long it would take for this to happen!

I've always wanted a real Ocean's Eleven-style heist game. You have to recruit your team, assign roles based on characters, get connections, get gadgets in order to pull off the heist, and lastly plan every meticulous detail of the hest itself. There'd be multiple ways to approach the final heist, with many options that succeed and don't succeed to varying degrees, and with most leading to a unique ending depending on which members of your team do what, who gets caught/killed, who gets away, and if anybody gets away with the loot. It's easy to screw up if you didn't plan something right, and multiple playthroughs are encouraged.

That sounds like a fun and novel concept, but I'm guessing it would be one hell of a balancing act to pull off.

No one has said Pokemon open world yet? Because I'm still holding out for something like this.
Comment has been collapsed.
I think a Pokemon MMO would be the only thing that would be a WOW killer.
The biggest problem with a pokemon mmo is the pokemon. Having ALL pokemon available would be nice but kind of lame and makes no real high level content. Having some pokemon rare would just make the grinders have an advantage.(Though maybe having an auction house for pokemon could help.)

Hello. I, Cyril. I would like you to do the game, 3D-ekshon essence is ... The user can play wood elves, and the villain of the palace guard. And if the user is playing elves elves in the woods, wooden houses nabigayut soldiers palace and villains. You can rob the Korowai ... And once the elf forest to do something so that there is a dense forest ... A cursor can be placed so that the trees in the distance image, podhodish when they are converted to 3-dimensional trees. You can buy, etc. opportunities both in Daggerfall. And the enemies of the 3-dimensional, too, and the body is also 3D. You can jump, etc. If you play for the protection of the palace you have to obey the command, and protect the castle from the evil (the name I came up with) and spies, guerrillas elves, and goes to raid the claw of these (elves, evil ...). But if the evil ... it means spies or guerrillas elves sometimes attack, the user is currently the commander can do that he wants to order his troops to attack him by the palace and go on the attack. All in the game 4 zones. Ie map and on it there are 4 zones, 1 - zone of people (neutral), 2 - zone of the emperor (where Palace), 3-band of elves, 4 - zone evil ... (In the mountains, there is an old fort ...) Just that the game could not only kill but also cut off by hand and if not cure, he shall die, just put out the eye but you can not die but just do not see the floor of the screen, or get or buy a prosthetic leg, too, or if you die or gonna crawl in a wheelchair or a cat, or a good thing ... put the prosthesis. You can save ... P.S. Dzhva year I want this game....

Well, I have a few ideas... But, this one is going to take up so much space, I will make two or three posts (if that's okay?).
A game in which you combine FPS with FTL... For a long time, I've wanted a game that you could command your own ship (in first person), fix it up, and even go to other planets and land on them and have quests. It would be a really big RPG and it could be multiplayer, but as we all know, and multiplayer game with flying in it sucks and it's a linear gameplay... But the game would be non-linear in a way, so if you don't want to do the main quest, you don't have to. BUT, if you don't do it within a certain amount of time, some events will have happened and it will change the way the game plays. Like, if one planet is ruled by these people, and the main quest ends up having you to save them from an invasion, the game will randomly choose whether or not this planet can defend itself... So if you have 10 in-game days to complete this mission to join and defend them, you can help them win. BUT, if you fail, the planet is captured and destroyed... OR... The game picks for the planet to defend itself, even though you didn't do enough. And maybe you decide not to care about it... Well, there is a chance that the planet has a good enough defenses and the planet survives. There is also a chance that the planets power shuts down and the invasion wipes out every living creature there... Or maybe the just make them slaves... Another random option there... Now, you know how is games like Skyrim, someone will tell you, "Meet me at the temple of Talos as soon as you can" and you just go and do a million other things before it, but the guy still stands there? Well, if you don't meet him at the time he says, you can talk to him later or he will message you telling you to meet him somewhere else and whatnot... Now, lets say you do have a multiplayer system. In this system, you can either play all as a team, or you will play as a bunch of enemies, struggling for power. If you decide to team up, you can join together to make (in my case) The Brotherhood of Chaos and reign with an iron fist. If you don't team up, then you fight for dominance and make alliances and etc. etc. And these teams won't just be you, yourself, and you... It will be you, your friends if you want, and tons of NPCs you you can recruit to join you, each with their own little backstory and maybe quests that they want you to liberate a planet to save their friends and family, or maybe take down a major corporation for ruining his life. And this will be my favorite part, the flight combat... Like I said before, it's going to be an FPS mixed with strategy and stuff, but when I say FPS, I mean, FPS... You know those old Star Wars X-Wing games (XW, TF, XWvsTF, XWA)? Well, it would be that kind of combat... Except, you can move around the cockpit (depending on what vehicle you are in) and then you can leave it to a copilot or autopilot droid, while you go take a nap or get in the gunner. There would also be a system for multiplayer that I thought of. You know how if you play some multiplayer games, you have to leave all of the sudden, and so when you get on later, you are back where you left off? Well, that doesn't really make sense now, does it? Wouldn't you have died or something? Hows about the ones that put you back at a central location? Weren't you just dang near death and someone was going to kill you? Instead of doing this, when you left, you would basically go to your ships rooms and go to sleep, leaving your copilot in charge to take you back to a hangar. If you don't have a copilot or a room, you just sit there idly, and if you were about to die, you die... Basically you never leave the game (in a sense). Now, another thing I never liked about most games was relationships... There wasn't enough (weird right?). In Skyrim, I have a wife and two kids who I adopted, but you don't do anything with them (head out of the gutters pervs). I always wanted to play games (not hide and seek) with them, have normal conversations, maybe your kids and wife send you a letter asking you to come home, maybe they get kidnapped (and perhaps worse, this would mean you have to keep your family with you or constantly check on them), or they get worried about you, want to know when you are going to be home, and you can send a letter back to reply to them. Now, having a family wouldn't just be to get money, it would be a chore, you have to feed them, make sure they have money, etc. etc. Which leads into another thing... FOOD... I hate it when you play games and they have food, but all food is good for is taking up weight and maybe refilling your health (I will get into these in a minute... maybe). Instead, eating and drinking is required. Your family can usually fend for themselves with eating, going to the marketplace, I'm sure she has a job (unless she's a stay-at-home wife, or you homeschool (another addition? Education? :3 )), which is why you would need to send them an allowance? As you can tell, it's a pretty realistic game, sortof... If it is based off of what I want it to be based off of, it will be called something like Star Wars Universes (Galaxies would be better but that name is taken)... This would be we have aliens, Twilek dancers, Hutt cartels, and awesome lore to go off of... But anyways... Weight will be an issue with both you and your craft. If you are carrying too much, then you can't do crap (another mechanism, bathrooms, nothing would be shown, you just click on a door, it goes black, then you come out refreshed... and no longer constapated (another mechanism, illnesses))... And also, I would want certain things to be shown on your body, like weapons and stuff will be hooked up on random belts, you will have satchels that will increase in size when you pick up stuff. And then health would be based on blood (similar to DayZ)... Well, that all I will say, I can come up with a storyline and everything but I don't think people are going to take the time to read this...
EDIT: Did I forget to mention that you would build your own ship, get jobs (perhaps mining companies or joining the empire/rebellion) and maybe build your own house on a homestead in Tatooine or furnish your apartment in Coursant?
EDIT 2: And you would be able to furnish your own ship, change the colors, pick ID tags, forge your own fake ID tags for those smuggling runs your don't want anyone to know about?

I skimmed trough (Sorry (Look at what the interwebs has done to us !)) and it looked very interesting :P Reminds me of an old game i used to play where you had your own ship and could upgrade it and change class and stuff. There were also races (As in whoever is the fastest). I never remembered what it was sadly...

Well, if you ever find it, you can send me a friend request on Steam and send it to me. I know there are a few games LIKE this but the problem with them is, they are either so old the multiplayer is nothing. Or it's just hard to play. Similar to games like TES Arena and Daggerfall, great games, but because I started with Oblivion and Skyrim, impossible to play due to the way the game mechanics work... This is pretty much why I wanted this because if they made it with a first person view, had up-to-date mechanics, and added the flight sim stuff (along with being able to fly into a planet and land somewhere) then it would be taking concepts from pretty much EVERY RPG, sci-fi, flight sim, and FPS, and combine them into one amazing game... A boy can dream, can't he?

Alright, thanks, it looks pretty cool. I just wish I hadn't made a deal with my mom that if she uses her debit card on the last $2 I needed for the Fallout collection (I paid her immediately), then I can't buy any new video games till school is out in May... I need to think further ahead than I already do sometimes...

Here's my dream game:
So it would be an extension of the Call of Duty games, preferable titled Modern Warfare 4. The maps would all be basically the same, with the option of purchasing maps from previous games. There would be tons of achievements for doing simple things like playing for the first time, killing your first opponent in multiplayer, and running 0.1 miles total. Of course there would have to be killstreaks, but make the best ones the easiest to get so that people who are bad at the game still have a chance. The campaign should be quick and forgettable; heck, it doesn't even need to be played, but we'll still put it in there. There has to be a ton of lens flare and a sepia-type filter to make the graphics the best. Also, everyone gets access to an aimbot in case they need a little help. There's my game.

I would like a game with the vast world of Daggerfall, the choices of Deus Ex, the movement options of [PROTOTYPE], the meld of strategy and FPS of Battlezone, and a story like Planescape: Torment. I'd love a game like that, a vast open world where what you choose to do changes what the NPCs think of you, and actually persisting consequences to your actions, unlike Call of Duty, hint hint Activision, with your ending being dictated by what you chose.
Also a fight against myself. As in, someone with my abilities, my tactics, and my preferences. I always love fights like that.

Hi everyone. I'm bored so I decided to make this thread.
Basically the idea is to allow 4 days for people to come up with ideas for their own "dream game" and then vote on the ones that seem the most popular. There will be a prize (game), although I have no idea what it is yet. Basically for the first 4 days this thread post the best idea for a game you can come up with. The more detailed, the better. After the 4 days are up, I'll take the 5 most popular ideas and put them in an actual poll for everyone to vote on. The ideas in no way have to be possible with current technology, we're only looking for ideas here.
If you see an idea you like, put a "+1" comment in reply to the idea. These will be used to determine the most popular game ideas for the actual poll. You may +1 as many ideas as you want.
EDIT: Added [Prize] to the title so people will click (aren't I smart).
