Finally got my 720x576 monitor and it's pretty much the same as my 640x480. Of course with 29fps.
I'm pretty sure people can't see past 480p. And the color is not my favourite(Quartz grey)

PS. Don't come here trolling that we need more than 480p or 29fps.

Are you using a 19" crt? I'm using 1400x1050@85. It's an odd resolution, but I prefer the 85hz for desktop use and I think it looks better than 1280x960. I play most games at 1600x1200@75 unless it's an old game that runs a smaller resolution or when I want to run counter strike at 140hz.

I think I have the same monitor. Mine is a Gateway Diamondtron VX920. I'm pretty sure it's the Mitsubishi just rebranded by Gateway.

There shouldn't be too much of a performance difference between the resolutions because the higher one only runs at 75hz instead of 85, but there is a difference.

I just threw out a 19" 4x3 LCD, it was horrible. It was an early Sony with a 30ms response time. I only used it as a backup when I had to hook up an old computer or diagnose a problem. Don't remember where I got it from, I think someone else was throwing it out, lol.

I still like crt's better. I'll upgrade when OLED becomes available for a decent price.

All laptops used to be 4:3 before the "widescreen" (short screen) revolution.

1x1 is all you need. Black for 0 and white for 1. Refresh rate depends on how fast can you read the binary code. I prefer to use green instead of white, for a Matrix feel to it.

Monitors are still sort of a luxury for me. I just listen to the modem noise to know what my pc is doing.

I agree. I just hold the end of my video cable close to my tongue so that I can feel the electricity arcing from the pins. That gives you enough information to accurately visualise the video in your mind - it's just like reading a book!
