Thoughts on Penarium? I really liked it but I feel that a controller is a must for that game. I tried doing it with mouse and keyboard and I couldn't make it work :/. Though it might be a me thing since nowadays I default to using a controller when possible.

Whenever I play a platformer I always use a controller. I've never actually tried any platformer with mouse and keyboard, it sounds like an unnecessary handicap that I'm not willing to try; even though I'm very accustomed to them with other games.
In general, I enjoyed Penarium a lot. But I felt like there were some issues with hit registration that really annoyed me, and that took some of the joy away from for me. Situations where I felt like I should've died, but I didn't. Or where I died, but I shouldnt've. Which made passing some levels feel a bit random to me. I never had that problem with Super Meat Boy for example, dying in that game always felt 'fair' to me.
It took me somewhat longer because I kept getting distracted by some of the spectators in the background. A couple of them have some weird moves, which for some reason grabbed my attention one too many times π

How is Oddworld btw? Been eyeing it for awhile but haven't tried it yet.

Ignoring bug with tutorial tips (instead of in-game controls tips, you see white rectangles) it was pretty good experience.I haven't played the original, so i can't compare the games. But i liked gameplay and graphics. The story is rather lame and i dislike the characters, but who cares. Not a must-play, but a good game.

I did it!

Done:
Truberbrook achievements
Gris achievements
11-11 Memories Retold achievements
The Hex achievements
Planet of the Eyes achievements
Copoka achievements ending screenshot
Copoka achievements are a bit buggy, it seems, and the one for finishing chapter 3 didn't unlock, so I also provide a screenshot of the ending.

Phew! Barely made it!
Thanks for giving me the excuse to bust some items off my massive backlog.
1) Getting Over It. This is what actually inspired me to take part, even though I only noticed the thread late so had a fairly narrow window to complete the games in. I figured if THIS was a game I cleared in the event window, then I might as well keep the ball rolling. A lot of people get angry at this game but I just found it strangely meditative, and whenever I messed up bad I either chuckled or rolled my eyes. That cliff-face above the orange can bite my entire ass though, haha. Got a lot easier once you realise the option to disable mouse smoothing is disguised in the options menu as 'trackpad optimisation'. Lets you move properly.
2) Moon Hunters. (The achievements you're looking for are 'Forgiveness' and 'Final Victory', two different major endings). This one was so low on my backlog I don't think I would have ever dug it out. Not much to speak of gameplay-wise, but replaying the loop of time to establish various heroes as your own personal pantheon was kind of interesting. Sadly it feels somewhat random, as the game judges also the heroes by how people see and remember them as much as what you thought of them and the choices you made, with results that feel kind of random as a result. Still, personal pantheon, nice-u.
3) Sonic Mania. Oof. I thought I'd really like this one, but that may have been nostalgia goggles making me forget the nature of sonic games. It's either a rollercoaster where you have little to no control (except to randomly mess it up because you're not psychic as to when it wants your inputs or not), or it's a blind maze-like section of random wandering until you hit the next mini rollercoaster. I mean, it's thematically great, and a lot of passion obviously went into this game, but it just doesn't really hold up as a game now that design standards have moved on, y'know? They did great things here, but it really just isn't for me. Still slogged through and had experienced the boss frustrations and underwater dread. If I could send this back through time to young me, they would be ecstatic, haha.
4) A Short Hike. I adored this. I expected a cheap and cheerful distraction but honestly? This is my entire jam. It's like they made some kinda hybrid out of the world of Animal Crossing, the cast of Night In The Woods, and the objective / skill progression of Celeste.
5) Kero Blater. I kept meaning to play this, because it's from the same person who made Cave Story, and also has a free side-game about one of the supporting cast too. It's super simple but has a certain difficulty curve to it. Low key sense of humour and actually pretty chill to play. I don't think I have the stomach to try for the New Game+ hardmode though, even if it seems it has an alternative story undercurrent on that one.
6) Road Redemption. A better game than I expected, and was left low on the backlog. Didn't expect the slight roguelite element. Gets a little samey later on though but a solid game.
(bonus)
7) Dead Rising 4. I started a new game for the third time, and actually played it through to the end. I tried playing it when it first got bundled, but despite the specs, 16gb of RAM really is required for it to not choke to death on micro-stutters. I tried just before christmas but once again couldn't get into it, and was swallowed by some harsh family-related drama. Decided to do a clean sweep for this event of yours, but then realised after confirming my playthrough of Phantom Doctrine doesn't count, that this one probably wouldn't count either (as you can't confirm I started a new game given the previous early-game achievments). But I was already halfway through when I realised that, so I cleared this one too. Scratch one off the backlog! It's actually pretty cool once you get past the first few cases, but like DR3, it just doesn't feel the same as the old ones. By the time I actually got into this, it was over. And then I realised the Overtime mode that all the other games had? Yeah. They made it a paid DLC on this game. A paid DLC, that you have to buy, to see the true ending. Screw that :P

Glad to hear positive things about Kero Blaster since I've had it in my backlog for sometime now :/.

Ah shit, here we go again
I like the event but I'm not participating this time, partly because I'm not interested in the game, partly because it was a bit stressful and partly because I'm focusing on Animal Crossing and my SG wins this month. Definitely up for it in the future though!
Comment has been collapsed.
Would love to, but have no interest in RE3, and have a bunch of SG wins I want to play first.
I may still try this - I have a lot of games I could play. Is it ok to choose more, and then make sure I at least play 6?
EDIT: Anyway, here's a list of games I'm interested in trying, let's see how we go...

I'm in. Hopefully this time no one will gift me Resident Evil 3 two days after completing the challenge :D

I'll try again. Not sure how far I'll get though:

It's interesting, but I'm not even going to try. I'm playing Persona 5 Royal on PS4 and I have game for a month π

Kinda regret buying Persona 5 when it launched since I still haven't touched the thing -.-.

Copy pasta from the last thread since I'm lazy. Β―\_(γ)_/Β―
Hello hello and welcome all to the madness.
The challenge is simple: Play and beat any 6 games, starting today, that have been featured in any given Humble Monthly/Choice bundle in one month.
The prize: RESIDENT EVIL 3
Game length does not matter and I'm not looking for 100% achievement runs. So long as you play and beat 6 games, I'm happy. You can go easy mode and play a bunch of 1h games or go crazy and play 6 +30h games. So long as they were in a monthly at a given point, it is all good.
Just post a comment with either screenshots/ achievements showing that you fulfilled the criteria and I'll add on Steam and give you the link. Feel free to share your thoughts on the games you've played, but it is not required.
FAQ:
Why you doing this?
I hate money. That and I realized I've been subbed to the monthly for nearly five years (yes it has been that long, I checked) and it occurred to me that I've barely touched the games I've gotten from it, let alone played them. Figured the same would be true for a few others, so I figured this is a good way to change that. A sensible person would probably unsub in this situation, but please refer to the beginning as to why that will not happen.
Why six games?
The first few monthlies had 6/7 games in them so I went with that.
How long are you going to do this?
Until my credit card statements gives me nightmares.
This event "ends" on May 1st when the next HB Choice releases, though the giveaway itself will end the next day. If you manage to finish game number six in between that time, feel free to post, but know that I cannot guarantee that I'll be able to give you the link in time. It may be hard to believe, but I don't live here. I am a real human living in a human home doing human things and in no way a rogue AI biding my time.
Good luck, have fun and stay safe.
Thanks for reading, have some cake.
