I'll just quote it.
The Day Z Mod requires both Arma II and Arma II: Operation Arrowhead.
For the best experience (including high detail textures for all models used in the DayZ Mod) purchase Arma II: Complete Collection.
So ... you need to have A2 + A2OA.
...and about the DayZ SA, i would just wait untill its fully released. No point playing it now because you'll get burned out after it gets released (if ever) and dayz mod so far... can offer you way more fun.

Oh I know you need both, hence the reason I'm looking at getting OA, it's the only bit I don't have yet, what I was asking was if the extra DLC from the Complete Collection makes that much of a difference...
And I was kinda joking about the SA DayZ, it doesn't really interest me that much yet...

Just get Oa is enough my friend, if you are really dying for better graphics on some cars then buy all the dlcs

As I know, you don't get much with ARMA 2 DLCs for playing the DayZ Mod. Just a few of high-res textures... DLCs contains interesting single player campaigns, though. Also, ARMA 2 (single & multiplayer) is a good game even without mods, I don't agree with that.

Ok, so I've been working towards this moment for a LONG time, I have ARMA 2 thanks to a GA I won it in somewhere, and now OA is dirt cheap so I want to get it in order to play the DayZ mod (I mean, come on, what other possible reason could there BE for getting these ARMA games?) and I'm in a bit of a quandary...
See, "they" recommend you get the ARMA 2 Complete Collection in order to get the best results or whatever. Does it really make that much difference? Do I really HAVE to fork out the extra $2 when I already have ARMA 2 and I really only need OA?
