I'm on a tough decision here. I'm not sure if I want a level select in my game Cluster 5. It is a 2D Story Puzzler/Platformer that I'm making. I'm too entirely sure myself so I say let the community decide. If I do go with a LS there will be 10 worlds with 15 levels each. So what do you guys think? Also, the Giveaway

Go for hardcore! If someone dies, he has to buy the game again.

But seriously.
It really depends on game. Whether there will be point in starting from level in the middle. It would be ok for most puzzlers i guess, but you mentioned story as well.

Rogue-like, extreme edition.
What kind of DRM would be needed to make it happen?

All every player gets is video stream of his personal chinese guy that doesn't understand english and you have to tell him how to move your character

Ofc when you die, you get different chinese guy.

if you mean a selector that lets you play levels after you beat them, then it's ok.

More options for players is rarely a bad thing.

True, but it has a story, which is the main issue. Otherwise this option would be pretty easy to make. I like to see what the community thinks. So far "Yes" is the answer.

Make the option to choose a level available only after it's been passed in story mode. You could consider adding a second mode that leaves out anything story related, so there are no spoilers, and then maybe have leaderboards for the "just levels" option.
I mean, I think you could do that. I've never dev'd my own game, so I'm not sure how feasible that is without taking away from the experience you're intending your players to have.

That could be doable. It would take some time with the program the game is being created in (Clickteam Fusion 2.5), but it could be possible. I'll see what I can do with that.
