1 part attention, 1 part as an excuse to interact with people. They legitimize my shitposts and me being in groups, and those two reasons are mainly why I do it.

Because hoarding keys and games is stupid if I won't play them. I did the mistake with many early Humble Bundles I purchased, just activating everything. Now I am sad I have this much stuff gathering dust because I am certain I won't ever touch them. Best I can do is delete them from my Steam.
So nowadays whatever is not something I really and actually want, I am going to give away if possible. Others will perhaps have a better use of it.

public: spare keys
private: spare keys of decent games / excuse to create a thread and spam the forums / found cool game and want others to know about it
whiteliste: spare money / want to ask something I couldn't ask elsewhere, so I put it in the description and expect people to reply

For me it started with having an incredibly large list of leftover bundle keys and the desire to get rid of them.
Now I'm a bit addicted to making giveaways and find myself spending a lot more money on giveaways than I used to on the bundles themselves. There's just something fulfilling about sharing my love for gaming with others, I guess (even if I spend more time here on SG than actually gaming these days. :X ). The thought of putting a smile on someone's face, no matter how brief it may be, just makes me happy. :)

Because why not? It's not like I'll take my steam money with me into the grave. xD So, I buy some games on steam and give them away from time to time.

Well, in Greek mythology though, Charon needed 2 coins to transfer your soul across the river and send you into the world of the dead. xD We Greeks were always greedy. 3:) xD

I don't have any real reason outside of the fact that I enjoy making them. My motives are purely selfish >:D.

I do it mostly because I have extra keys and I feel guilty if they were to go to waste. Someone should play them.

Pretty much left overs, I don't really feel like putting energy into trading. I also like to think that the things I give away has the potential to put a smile on someone's face. For the non bundled giveaways: I felt at that time to give something extra back or there was a deal on a game I really liked and I wanted to share that game.

Here ( SG ), there's an unwritten rule says: If you want to have a higher chance to win GAs, then you need to give games away too!
The concept of bundling games by Valve and other sellers like Humble bundle or etc make the giving games away more easier for users so let's give it a try and get addicted!
To communicate with others!

Spare keys but it also feels good to giveaway and make someone happy :)

Most of the games I give away are the ones that I either already own or wouldn't play anyway (like most of the first person shooters... Bleh).
There are a few exceptions like my FF giveaway that used to be my way of saying "thank you" to the whole community.

Most of the time I buy a bundle for just 2 or 3 games and since I've found this place I don't need to activate everything so it won't go to waste anymore even if I probably won't play it.

I'm pretty much with you Luk7.
When I was buying games weekly/monthly, I ended up with a lot of unused keys from bundles.
No reason not to give them out.

I was thinking about why i create GAs and came to the conclusion that the feeling of winning is something nice and more people should experience it. I also have a few spare keys laying around and they do me no good by just being inside a txt file on my desktop so i might as well give them to someone who'll have some fun those games.
Why about you? Why do you make GAs?
