Almost 3 years ago I've lost my father to prostate cancer, at the end of Movember.
Me and my brother are wearing the Mo since my father started the battle and I'm using it as just another way to remember him and raise awareness.
My girlfriend asked me to shave to get a fresh start, just before Movember, so I'll show Mo with due time. Since then you can see me with the fake Mo, I've used for Halloween (not really)

My heart goes out to anyone lost someone loved <3
Remember them ♥♥♥

/Mo Edit
I know it's not much, maybe that's the reason so many people ask me why do I even try and it's great conversation starter.
Here's my humble Movember contribution.

//Updated Mo 2.0

///15.11 Update
Thank you for all the support guys.
It's the half of the month and the response has been amazing.
If you spread the word only even in your family, I'll think my goal has been achieved.
Wish you best of luck and good health to you and your family.

He is a champion to contribute a great game to the Movember cause - Level 2 + GA Ended

///29.11 Update
One cart with a screwd up timing remaining! GA ended.
Today was the time my Mo got a proper treatment for the last week of Movember.
I will continue wearing the Mo until we hear good news from LostSoulVL, around the end of the year. Keep fighting, my friend!

///30.11 Update
My train has reached the final destination and all the keys are sent to the winners, but our friend koju76 has a great contribution for the end of Movember! GA Ended
Thank you for the response and all the support guys. It has been incredible month with highs and lows, but I wish you all the best.
Be strong, be healthy and be free!

///02.12 Update
I hoped to wear the Mo until we hear from LostSoulVL, but I have a big step ahead of me - changing cities and looking for job, so I can't. Sorry, mate. You are in my prayers and wishing all the best to you and your family. Be strong, keep fighting and continue to be awesome!

Well, to be honest - my father's 76 and my mother got over breast cancer few years ago (with risk it might return) so I really do value time spent with them.

Time is just merciless.

i think its a great way to remember him. just keep doing it every year :)
just one question. which kind of beard you prefer?

8 years ago
Permalink

Comment has been collapsed.

Don't have thick enough beard to style it so I shave or thrim it down. I'm wearing a soul-patch since my first Movember 5 yrs ago.
If I had the option to grow a full, luscious, thick beard, still would have some kind of short style.

my condolences bro - haven't lost anyone to cancer yet, but not for lack of its trying.
Dad's Mom has had it twice and is currently fighting it again; lots of tobacco abuse from myself and others as well so...
i can count on one hand how many selfies i've taken in my life... +1

so...is November focused on just moustaches? i always have heard it as "No-Shave November," so all of facial hair...
either way, i not cutting the beard... but i really want to, freaking neck is getting gross; only a matter of time 'fore my moustache starts invading my mouth too xD

Movember is for moustaches, I think. Don't know No shave november comes from.
As for the Mo invading the mouth, I trim it every 3-4 days, because some particular hairs annoy me.
On a personal embarrassing note - yesterday got food stuck in my Mo at work and toothpaste foam invading the soul-patch xD

Yeah see i had never heard of Movember haha - it might be a regional thing (USA here)
Oh man, i know all about facial hair being a trap; i hardly touch my goatee (insofar as cutting it) - lots of debris is prone to catch. Have to use more shampoo on my face than i do on top of face xD

Not for nothing, but somehow I never imagined you sporting a beard, weird ;D...

Fingers crossed for your grammie. Shoulda stop smoking too - if not for my health simply because that shit gets expensive af.

yaya i don't act as i look (6'8" tall, never smile irl - it's hard to get anything but niceties outta me though xD)
nodnod on that monies - that's the good thing about smokeless tobacco at least; generally it's half the price. i usually make a pack of smokes last a week at this point but can go through a roll of dip in like three days - used to smoke like a chimney (used to be called SmokeStacks ahaha) but got wise, for both health and funds (though not smart enough 'cause i continue :S)

Tried it, but never could get myself accustomed to the taste, besides I'm pretty sure my girl would give me hell if I would ;D... and it's still a good excuse for leaving my desk/the goddamn conference room and all the retardation of work behind, even if it's just for five minutes... hence I'm almost back to a pack a day >.<... btw SmokeStacks hahah xD ;P

Gotta get the right one, this is true. I started with Kayak Apple and that was just no good for anybody ahahaha. Next was Grizzly long-cut Wintergreen and that's been my go-to since (though there are some others i like like Copenhagen Whiskey Blend, mmmm). Yup, 's'a good thing i forever alone and all that. I ken on using it as an excuse to get away for a bit, but could also do that just of your own volition heh... smoking kills bro, beware (hangin with Grandad, it's taken its toll on him, just... smh)
aye, it's cuza my height and the fact that, back then, if i wasn't smokin' a cigarette, i was smokin' a J xD always one or thother, usually both

Sad for your loss man. A friend just mentioned to me that "No Shave November was about letting your hair grow and raise awareness for cancer patients who lose theirs", I honestly thought it was just some dumb college students trend who were too lazy to shave.

Knowing about this foundation makes it more legit to me, I will consider supporting them one way or another, thanks for raising AWARENESS!

Thank you, friend. Everyone taking notice of this cause is valuable.
Seeing the response to my humble Mo, just from today is amazing. I was greeted with smiles (and some laughs), but all that lead to conversations about men's health.
This is what I can do. This is just a simple thing that we can do to raise awareness.
