HL2 or Complete?

I never played any of the Half Life games before and don't have them on my steam, I have 10 dollars left in my paypal, which basically screws me over for the summer sale, but I found The whole Half life complete collection for 10 dollars, so I thought to myself, why not, I've seen good reviews on it. But heres the problem, I don't know if I'LL like it. So should I start with Half life 2 or buy the complete collection now?
