Thanks to everyone that took part and added to my event, but the competition is not over yet. We still have to decide on who goes home with a gold medal. I picked a champion from each nation that participated, and then looked at their wishlists. The top most wanted game was also a game none of athletes had yet, so the choice was easy. To find out what they are competing for, check the bottom of the post.

Winner: Portugal!

That concludes this years events. Just trying to sort one key out that IG had messed up (if anyone has a spare key for Pixel Arcade that they want to trade for let me know), and waiting for one winner to log back on, but otherwise everything seems to be in order.

Here's the list of our final athletes and their entries that made them able to compete for a gold medal:

I don't really follow the Olympics, so I don't have any stories, sorry. The only thing I really remember is that the Australians had an Echidna as a mascot at some point.

Opening Ceremony was great. Watched it with my mother, she is originally from South Korea (I'm german). We really liked it. Nice mix of traditional and modern elements

I really liked it as well. Just finished watching a replay since I was at work when it was on. Was quite a lot of ooh's and aaah's. :) Poor hockey gals running that flame up the stairs. You could really see they were rather tired in the end. :D

"Я узнал, что у меня
Есть огpомная семья -
И тpопинка, и лесок,
В поле каждый колосок!
Речка, небо голубое -
Это все мое, pодное!
Это Родина моя!
Всех люблю на свете я!"

Bump for Sweden getting their first Gold medal! Charlotte Kalla really blew everyone else out of the (frozen) water in the skiathlon event.

Bump for Norway. Great skiing in the skiathlon filling the podium. Especially Krueger who fell after 200m and broke a ski pole, then having to pass over 70 other competitors to get that gold medal, and he did it with an insane amount of time to spare as well. Great tactic from the other Norwegians to let him get ahead of the pack as well by not chasing him when he pulled ahead. Really secured the victory.

I'm completely not into olympics and also not into sports (the only sport I care about is ski jumping). I joined the train though. Hope it's okay!
