I recommend doing so. If only because 999 is much better IMO. :P

+1 for both Zero Escape and 999. I also recommend Ace Attorney.

It's not mandatory but I'd STRONGLY recommend it.; VLR is a standalone game but there's a bunch that won't connect as strongly/at all if you haven't played the first.
If you have an iPhone/iPad I think that version of 999 is only like $5, but it cuts out the puzzles to make it pretty much purely a VN.

I strongly recommend you play 999 first but not necessary.
You will get more surprise if you played 999 first.
I donno what games they have in NA shop, but I also recommend ace attorney series and Zelda series.

Persona Q is an excellent game and currently $30 off, at least what it's telling me.

Wrong region, most likely. I think us PAL gamers only get sales for SMT4 from Atlus.
Edit - Yeah, no such sales for us. Best game we have on sale is half off Bloo Kid 2.
Comment has been collapsed.
That's unfortunate. It's a game I'd recommend to anyone and you don't even need to be that familiar with the Persona series for it.

I agree it is unfortunate, as I don't want to spend NZ$90 for one of those games. Sometimes I'll buy a PAL retail copy of expensive titles from the UK if I can get plenty of PayPal funds during Steam trading, but that doesn't exactly happen often. :P
Right now, I'd probably go with Hyrule Warriors for 3DS if I got the cash, it would save me a third of the price over buying it down here.

Publishers want more money.
Sure, they like to blame other stuff like taxes and import fees, but there have been people doing the math in the past. Games just have a chunk of mark up, sometimes up to 30% extra.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not just taxes and import fees, it's certification as well. If you want to blame anyone, blame your government for taking the Australian approach to video game certification.

Hmm, 3DS EShop games? Well, the one I tend to recommend is one you already have listed. :P
Boxboy! is a fun game if you like puzzles. I shouldn't need to mention Gunman Clive judging from the train. Resident Evil Revelations is worth getting when it hits a sale (great game on 3DS or Steam, I have both versions).
Here is my own 3DS library, feel free to add me on your friend list (be sure to forward you own) if you ever want to play games with someone in New Zealand.

I purchased each of those titles separately while on sale. Only skipped Aero Porter. Not a fan of WSdO but the other 5 were fun.
Comment has been collapsed.
Yeah, I just figured it was worth mentioning :P After all, the PC version like I said is relatively cheaper and gets more content than the 3Ds one, and also runs better.
And right, I missed that "N" there haha! My bad ^^
Did you know they're working on a new DLC called AfterBirth + ? Pretty hyped for that :'D

Not sure what you like, I got Mighty Switch Force when they were super cheap (like 2 bucks?) on 3Shop and I liked it for the simplistic platform style. I also got Conception II which is a super strange NSFW visual novel cross action game which I got for like 30ish. I also found rayman origins on pretty cheap during a sale.
Also original red/blue/yelow came out recently as well. I also think there is the Shantae games I been eyeing for a little while.
Everything else I think are more cart like games.

Wish Conception 2 was down here in New Zealand. Australia and Europe got it on the EShop, but New Zealand didn't since publisher didn't want to pay for classification here, and as there is no PAL physical release, I can't even buy it elsewhere.
Maybe if Aus EShop redeemable game keys were available, I might be able to get it (I know that 3DS demo EShop keys were redeemable in both countries), but I very much doubt there are such keys available. :(

Oh man thats such a shame, I figured New Zealand release would be the same as Aus release. Have you seen the game? Its quite erm interesting for what it is lol, Played long enough that it was worth the 20 bucks I think I paid for it though.
I wonder if you could get your 3ds through a proxy whether it would give you access to say Aus eShop (could say you were visiting OZ for a few days, they're both counted as EUR region I think) or if it would be too risky with how ban happy Nintendo is lol.

Nope, I'd only access the NZ store no matter the country I was in. A second system would allow me to create a Aus account (though I'm not sure if I could add currency to the card without gift cards), but who wants to have a second system for a single game?

Unnecessarily long Buuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuump!
Oh yeah, and I too have been playing Pokemon Yellow. It's an old game but I'm oddly having more fun playing through it than I did the last 3D release and they'll transfer to the new games when they come out-- for whatever that's worth.
Also, do they sell eShop games on Amazon in your region? Don't know if they'd be any cheaper or not but there's the possibility of sales, gift card usage, etc. I only remembered they sell eShop games recently.

I forget the exact title, but there's a collection of the first three Phoenix Wright/Ace Attorney games out which I'd recommend if you haven't played them. The fifth game is an eShop exclusive in most regions as well. If you're just getting into the series, you'd still have to track down Apollo Justice (the fourth game) and the Edgeworth spinoffs separately, though. VS Professor Layton is probably on the eShop too but I'm not personally crazy about it and it's non-canon anyway.
Shovel Knight is excellent. I was completely fatigued by the whole retro throwback trend so I hesitated on checking it out, but it's a legitimately great game. Although the new physical edition might be available in your region if you'd prefer that.

Stella Glow is amazing, its like Fire Emblem? Except I find it easier personally and more interesting story line, and many hot girls :D!!

Stella Glow's actually released early at retail. EB already has it.

Terraria
Binding of Isaac: Rebirth (Exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS)
Mega Man Legacy Collection (I don't personally own it, but I hear it's good)
Monster Hunter 4 Ultimate
Cave Story
Any Legend of Zelda game in there, in my opinion
Xenoblade Chronicles 3D (Exclusive to the New Nintendo 3DS)
Bravely Default
Proun+
EDIT: Come to think of it, I only own Binding of Isaac: Rebirth, Xenoblade Chronicles 3D, Cave Story and a couple Legend of Zelda games from this list. Only heard good things about the rest.

If you liked Shin Megami Tensei IV you might give Etrian Odyssey a try (I guess there's a demo), also I've been playing Rune Factory 4 every single day since I bought it on the last sale. :D

Bravely Default and its sequel Bravely Second (out in Europe now, the US gets it in April, I think) if you enjoy JRPGs. Rune Factory 4 was great, I wasn't able to buy it on a discount either, but I enjoyed it a lot. Phoenix Wright - Dual Destinies was wonderful too and Professor Layton vs Ace Attorney is a treat, not only for fans of both series (though I am not sure if it is available online). The Zero Escape series is also a personal favorite of mine.
Other small download-only games I have played are Attack of the Friday Monsters: A Tokyo Tale, Liberation Maiden and Adventure Bar Story. All of them have a certain charm to them, but especially the first one is a little obscure.
Fantasy Life is nice too and Story of Seasons seems to be great as well. Also, Rhythm Thief & the Emperor's Treasure if you are into rhythm games.
In general, all of the Layton and Ace Attorney games can be recommended, Legend of Zelda too, of course.
PS: Really seconding your statement about Fire Emblem Fates, I wish it was here already.

I have one of the Stretchmo/Pusho games (idk which one) and it is definitely worth the 10 dollars. Also, you should check the Price Drops section because they have great games on sale. For example, I bought Etrian Odyssey Untold for only 10 dollars so DEFINITELY check out the Price Drops section. Right now they have a Rayman Origins game for like 7.50 as well.
EDIT: I noticed you bought SMT 4, and I would say that is a great deal! That game is AMAZING and I loved the whole story. Honestly, I don't like dungeon crawlers much but that game really sold me in how amazing those kinds of games can be.

Those are US sales. PAL region gets different sales on EShop. We certainly never see the Atlus titles discounted except for SMT4. :P
Right now, we have hidden object, match 3 and Resident Evil sales. :P

Well, recs can't hurt, just can't rely on the same sales.

Hello world
So I have about $50 worth of eShop funds on my 3DS and was wondering what are some worthwhile eShop titles. I've played the puzzle series PullBlox (or Pushmo) and purchased Shin Megami Tensei IV on sale for $13. I've been eyeing Rune Factory 4 since it released in PAL regions but I haven't seen it on sale like some JRPGs in NA, and Australian prices for retail games are pretty steep.
Oh, and there's a Nintendo Direct announced for tomorrow. Hopefully we get a FE:Fates release date.
Anyway, here is a train of 3DS eShop games that happen to be on Steam.
