I don't think you can really compare it to his other stuff like dexter or powerpuff girls. It was lighthearted but serious at the same time, I guess like a kids version of Afro Samurai (the bad guys are normally robots and instead of blood, there is oil that sprays everywhere when he cuts them up). The story was basically that this samurai was trying to fight this evil godlike creature who sent him into the future during their 'final battle' since he was about to be defeated. Each episode is about him trying to get back to the past to fight the bad guy (using magic/artifact/whatever), him helping some people (normally by fighting a ton of robots) or him fighting a bunch of mercenaries/bounty hunters who are trying to get him.
It's pretty cool stuff, and there are lots of episodes I wish I could go and rewatch. This is one of my favorites, but any episode with The Scotsman is great too

Well, I was feeling quite a bit nostalgic as of late about a few of the old CN shows I used to watch as a kid (Samurai Jack being one of them). So, of course I... won't watch it because I don't have a TV. Maybe after all the episodes are released and available online I'll check if it lives up to my nostalgia but not sooner. :P
