Ummmmm... I didn't expect that, he seemed legit and had 32 pages worth of reputation and other normal comments, could his account have been stolen? The deal was that I buy him 2 games worth 5$ and in return he gives me 2 keys, but right after I sent him the games he said its his turn then instantly blocked me, has this ever happened to you? Idk if I can post his profile here but what can I do? Can I get steam to confiscate the games or can I get a refund?

You cannot post his link, calling out is forbidden. You cannot ask Steam to help you because when sending items to him you clicked a checkbox says that you accepted you are sending gifts and expect nothing in return.

Maybe he got dc, bad wi-fi, power cut etc?

Nope, his profile was public and right after he went offline I checked his profile and it was private. Even if that happened I doubt his internet was cut at that exact moment.

if he didn't claim the gift and redeem it yet, you can.
go to your inventory and choose the "take back to inventory" or whatever it called

being a bit sceptical is not a bad attitude nowadays

Edit : is this send as gift or trade?, if trade You can't do anything then AFAIK

He doesn't look like an impersonator at all, his steam level was 50 and he had over 900 games, why would an impersonator craft that many cards and buy that many games? Also yes because his profile is private now.

I can't really check anymore because he blocked me but I gave his profile a look, his level, games, friends, and description he seemed legit but I guess he wasn't..

level, games, friends, and description don't mean anything. "steam profile rep" doesn't mean anything (since you can just remove negative comments there). the only thing you should be looking at is rep on steamtrades. install enhanced steam for your browser. then, if someone adds you to trade, copy his profile link, post it in your browser and from there open his steamtrades profile (this way he can't show you a different profile he's impersonating). if his rep is really good, you don't have much to worry about.

in fact you could check him right now and see what rep he has here.

It happens. If you are talking about +rep on his Steam profile then that is easy to get - there are plenty of groups where people +rep each other without trading. And also he can easily delete any negative comments.

The dates go as far back as 2013, do they just do it non-stop like that?

There are always places to go to get more +rep if you want it, on its own its pretty worthless. If you are sure you have been scammed then you can report the user to steamrep.com - you may find they have already been reported there if you haven't already looked. It isn't common for higher level users to scam people like that but some do on the basis that there is very little to worry about in terms of comeback. Steam support generally wont get involved in this kind of scam. They might not be active on steam trades to worry about -rep there, or they might just impersonate other steam trades users, or their steam trades profile might already be filled with -rep.

Oh, yes, they do. Ever since trading was introduced.

Check if he's impersonator like this:
(I'm gonna use my own profile)

https://steamcommunity.com/id/morikalina/

Go to https://steamdb.info/calculator/ and write "morikalina" in textbox

You will see something like "Steam ID" which is "76561198047206902" for me

Then go to steamtrades with this ID to see if I'm really who I say I am

https://www.steamtrades.com/user/76561198047206902

You can also check me at steamrep with same ID

https://steamrep.com/search?q=76561198047206902

I didn't trade him using steamtrades, that's why I put this on off topic, I made a discussion and he added me. I'm trying to put his ID in the steam rep search but it's not working, do you need to have an account there or does it automatically make one for every steam user?

Steamrep automatically creates profiles for each steam account. Are you sure you are using his nickname in steam profile link then using the correct ID?

Yes his ID was 100% right, and I tried his profile link too it didn't work.

I wanted to get CSGO for my friend, but we did it by trading TF2 items, we combined our items and got 3 keys, but we need 2 more so I got my brother to add in 5$ to my account but I had a market restriction for using a new paypal, and I couldn't wait 2 weeks to play it with my friend so I decided to do this.. I should have waited but instead I made a fool of myself lol, well at least I still have 3 keys. I'm thankful that I didn't make a major trade with him, next time I should be careful.

ikr? Imagine how many people he's probably scammed.. He has 900 games he must have scammed a lot of people to get there.

When they have more rep than me on SteamTrades, I always go first, due to I'm new to trade and have really small rep. Have no problem with that, since I show that what I delivered it was all right. The user that scammed you, with all his levels and rep, puts in a uncomfortable spot to people like me, trying to get rep and trades the proper way, and other users probably will avoid us.
I'd like if you could somehow make him pay.
Oh, and for trades, stick to SteamTrades. It's less risky I think.

Cheers, hope all goes better.

If you send him the games as gift you can check the e-mail to see his actual profile or go to inventory and in more check "View gift history" there you can go to the profile and if you have enhanced steam you can get a link directly to his steamrep account.

"Unredeemed gifts may be refunded within the standard 14-day/two-hour refund period. Redeemed gifts may be refunded under the same conditions if the gift recipient initiates the refund. Funds used to purchase the gift will be returned to the original purchaser." Thats from the official steam refund FAQ, does that mean I can refund it? I don't understand it that well.

could his account have been stolen?

it's certainly possible.. but doesn't change anything really. i'd still leave -rep on steamtrades.com and provide all the proof you can over to steamrep.com so they can tag 'em as a scammer all the same. even if the original owner recovers his account it was used in a scam still so the steamrep warning and steamtrades rep would be justified.

You can try to talk to steam about it and say that a family member had access to your account and purchase the gift for a friend without your permission . Ask steam to revoke the gift and tell them that you are okay with the lost. This way the scammer can have their just deserts and you gain a valuable lesson.

Why say "scammed by a level 50", levels mean nothing and are pointless. You should only trade 1 for 1 at the same time, anything else and it is your own fault. I would never trade with anyone without it being 1 for 1 at the same time.
