no chance of being punished as long as you redeemed the copy you were gifted. On the winning account ofc.

no, if you activated the game you won on your account, it's absolutely fine to give the same game away later. it's obvious then, that you must have gotten a second copy for the giveaway.

No, you won't be punished, as long as you have redeemed the won gift.
But I also have a question.
I'm a trader and I have some games almost always in my gift inventory. What if I happen to win one of these games at some point? Will the admins or the giveaway creator think that I didn't activate it (if he has already sent it to me) or that I have it already and that I shouldn't have participated in the giveaway (if he hasn't already sent it to me)? o.O

Well, but I'm a trader. I have traded a lot of games that I actually liked and wanted for myself. So, if I redeem the won gift, is it bad if I already have another copy in my inventory, because I'm a trader? Or would people fall into false assumptions? Is this against the rules?

I recall it was stated by support that gift copies stored in inventory may have different purposes and should have no impact on ability to enter and win giveaways.
Too lazy to look for it, it was quite some time ago.
If that really bothers you maybe ask on sg group chat? Mods show up there I hear.

I'm just afraid that people would fall into false assumptions and think that I "already have it", just because it's in my inventory, or if they've already sent it to me and I activated it, they could think that I didn't activate it just because there's a copy in my inventory.

I think you don't need to worry. If your win is Steam gift, you and the creator would become friends, so they can see activating. Even if it's a key, with SGTools, gift givers can easily learn whether you activated or not.

Nice then. I've been avoiding some giveaways in the past for games that I like, just because I had a copy of the same game in my inventory for trading purposes. :/

Hmm, probably I'm good. Still, I'm pretty sure I'll eventually get some trouble if I ever win a game that I already have in my gift inventory. Nevermind though. Yep, you can close it. Thank you for waiting. ;P

Thanks for your answers.
I have another question which is similar.
I bought on a bundle Sniper Ghost Warrior (it's an example, I do that with some others games), and I really want to play it. But I don't have the time to do it know, so I haven't redeemed it yet.
I join giveaway for this game, planning to giveaway my copy if I win before I decided to play.
Is it authorized?

It is authorized but your decision is weird!. O_o

Two basic ideas to grasp.
You must activate a copy of everything you win & ownership only applies to items redeemed on your account. If it isn't activated on your account you can enter it.

Hello,
I won War of the Roses : Kingmaker earlier and I reedemed it on steam.
But I found that when I purchased Humble Flash Bundle: Paradox's Giving Tuesday, the bundle came with two spares keys that I have no use for. So I'd like to give them away.
Is there any chance that I might be punished for giving away the same game that I won?
Regards
