Hello, so I've been looking for a solution for this one. I can get past the startup without crashing but I keep crashing in Prologue (the first level) where Miller opens the door after you open a gate and jump over a gap. As soon as he opens the door the game crashes. My graphics card is Nvidia GTX 260 and my processor is Intel E8400 if it matters. I've updated my graphics drivers and PhysX, I've tried it with advanced PhysX turned on and turned off, with DirectX 9 and DirectX 10, verifying integrity of the game cache, nothing helped. Any ideas on how to fix this? Thanks.

It's a long shot, but have you tried scaling all the graphics options down (resolution, AA, etc.) and seeing if it works at the most basic settings?

If so, ramp them up one by one to see what is causing the problem.

turn on vysnc in the settings.ini file i know it shouldnt but it actually improves frame rate alot and might stop you from crashing

I can't find "settings.ini". Do you mind telling me where it's found? I found a file called "user.cfg" but I don't think that's the one you're referring to. I have the Steam version by the way.

Also, according to "user.cfg", vsync was already turned off so I don't think this is the problem.

He did say to turn it on, so you still could try, since it is currently off.

Right, sorry, I misread.

Just tried turning it on and it's still crashing.

Anyone else? I've been trying to get this game to work for about a week now and I still couldn't find a solution.

During the installation probably some of the other programs could not beign installed (directX and otehr stuff), try to start them from the installation folder.
And if you haven't restarted the pc yet you have to do that (common problem, I had it too) before doing anything else.

That was actually the first thing I tried but it didn't help either.

I decided to do a reinstall as verifying the game cache doesn't seem to do anything for me. I'll let you know about the result after it's done. Thanks for the answers.
