It sounds like a HUGE pain in the ass to be in charge of something like that, and I imagine that if it did get started, it'd fizzle out after a few weeks. Also, I don't see the point of it. If you have money to donate, you can buy the damn game yourself.

You wouldn't donate 60 bucks to see a Borderlands 2 giveaway.. you would donate 5 bucks and when enough other people also donated for Borderlands 2, a Giveaway will be created. Basically you could invest a little into the creation of a Giveaway.
The problem is that people that haven't donated can also join that giveaway(if i understand it right)

Yes you understood it right but if you read carefully there is "*" next to sentence. I have some basic ideas about it but it is not ready yet, it is open to discussion but let's say there can be a rule like %51 of donators wants this giveaway to be public, then it will be. Or like %100 of the donators must agree that the giveaway must be public, otherwise it will be a private for the donators only.

If I also my add, how will this differ from the contrib. value here, of contrib. levels in playblink?
Or how does it differ from the hidden and private groups?
As Incog also said, it sounds like a huge pain.

It will be private group giveaway (if donators decided that) and only donators will get that link. And since every donator and their nicknames are listed the winner will be checked and will make sure he is a donator.
But like I said, these are the stuff that the donators will have option to change. If you want to use your money for a giveaway, it will be your way, not someone else's.

Let me be honest.
This is only a quick money making scheme,at best.
If for example various people donate a total of 100$ for a game, and said game can be region unlocked and a key can be bought for 10$.
What is the guarante that my money wont be used by the owner of the website? Because it seems wouldnt know who and what has been donated, so its easy to donated money to 'disappear'.
Bad idea, people here have free giveaways, people here share and give because they want and when they want. IT'S SIMPLE.
And that, is why steamgifts is popular. Because its really simple to just join and hope luck is on your side.
Bin that idea.

The part you are missing is all giveaways will be on steam gifts, not on another web site, and there won't be any region specific/locked games. Site owner (in this case it is me) is going to use public domains, and therefore there can't and won't be any "necessary" or "needed" fees. The site will be used for polls and announcing donators only.

You are still missing my point, what if you get a russian key at a really reduced price. What is your guarantee that the key for that game isnt russian? Or even traded?
The fact that you are going to use sgifts doesnt exclude the fact that you are dealing with REAL money, and that if they know how to do stuff they can games next to nothing.

That's what I was saying, why bother giving Paypal money for some unknown dude for him to make giveaways here rather than either buying the game myself with some friends (4 Packs) or joining hidden gropis and also entering publick giveaways.

Because I will be in charge of the giveaway, that's how I can be sure that it is not a region locked key. And btw there won't be keys, the games will be sent through steam, so there will be no option, no possibility to have that game to be somewhat fishy.
@vcvc8 I am a 26 years old college student with 8 Bachealor's degree, this is my second steam account (I forgot the first one when I created it on steam beta, while the won was still active) and I don't think that I am a person who will steal 500$ and run away :)

The game can still be from a trade, so there is still the risk of the money not going towards the game and to your pocket.
And as I also said, being someone unknown and dealing with real money. Not a good combination.
Someone with half a brain could see this as a easy scam and simply not joining the group. For example I wouldn't join this.
But good luck with everything, and if it does go through I will take what I said back.

I don't get it. Is there a possibility for a game to be traded through steam trade but be ingeniune? Or do you mean something like that I will find a person with that game and purchase it for a lower price, then trade?
And yes being an unknown person doesn't help, you either ask for a leap of faith, or leave. And here I am asking :)

I can claim to be the pope to get people to believe me.
Saying that you are this age and have done this, for me its exactly the same as saying, hey give me your money because yes.

You're the undisputed Trollinator but sometimes you're just right and i have to agree.
"The whole thing is pretty impossible anyways. He expects people to donate money. The only practical way would be Paypal, which is serious money, and there's no guarantees about it. For all we know, he gets 500 dollars and runs away."

This may actually be illegal in some countries as it would be online gambling.

I have an idea for a long time but I am kind of scared to say it loud but here i go;
I am thinking to create a group which is basically a group of donators.
I know with the word "donate/donator/donations" i am swimming in the danger zone but first hear me out;
-There will be a public blog/page/group or whatever necessary to see the group activity and donations
-There is no minimum or maximum donations, you will not have to donate to join any of the giveaways, there will be no restrictions
-If you donate, you will have two options, (1) you can choose a specific game for your donation, which will be used to create a giveaway of that game, and (2) you can just donate which will be used for any game (there will be priorities)
-You will get an email or something like that when your donation is used for the game you specified, so you wont miss the chance of joining it when you are the donator.
-You will have option to get your money back whenever you want (unless that money is used for the game you selected)
So an example;
Lets say I donated 10$ for Borderlands 2, 5$ without any restrictions.
But after 2-3 hours i decided to not to donate for Borderlands2 i will be able to request my money back.
-OR-
If my money is used for Borderlands2 i will get an email that saying my money is used and i got xx time to join the giveaway (and email will include the link of course)
Since all the donations are publicly made (unless the donator wants it to be anonymous) there can't be any stealing or any kind of "bad behavior".
There can be a separate account for giveaways so that way no one (including the group leader) can farm "contribution value".
The public site will have lots of lists, pools so you will be able to have an option to choose the game you want.
These are just the scratch of an idea. I am just asking your opinions about this, how could this be, what are the possible outcomes, how can this group end up etc.
EDIT: I must add that the web site will be on public domain and therefore it will cost nothing but site owner's time (in this case it is me) so there won't be any donations (even when someone wants to donate for the web site it will be refused) and there is absolutely no money "earnings" for the site owner.
EVERY GIVEAWAY WILL BE HERE, ON STEAM GIFTS. This is not a question of a new web site or a replacement. "the web site" I am talking about is going to have polls and will be used to announce donators (and how much is required for game xx) only.
Any games with "fishy" reputations will not be available. And there won't be any region specific/locked game giveaways. All the games will be available worldwide. (again there won't be any possibility for the "site owner" to get his hands on cash either)
