In the light of recent violence all around the world.today(Oct 2nd) marks the birthday of a great leader (Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi) who showed the world that even non violence can be used as a successful tool for the struggle
[historians say, Gandhi proved that one man has the power to take on an empire, using both ethics and intelligence. Other peaceful resisters such as Martin Luther King Jr. during the 1960s civil rights movement and Tibet's Dalai Lama have emulated his methods in years since, shaking up the dynamic of world politics in the process.]

A small giveaway to commerate his birthday

Seeing how Obama won it without doing anything, I'm inclined to agree with that.

Not refuting the legitamacy/eligibility of any award winners, but somewhere down the line they started to use such awards to socially legitimize many unethical acts to say the least.

it's kinda sad when some people hated with the methods that these people (Gandhi, Luther King, John Paul II and others) used on dealing the differences or the matters with no violence. It just like that some people doesn't like with the world peace only for their personal reason. I hope there's another great person in this era that brave enough to say to the world that there's no need to use the violence on solving their problem.

I agree. Most of them think violence puts an end to all problems but they don't realise that the solution achieved through this is only temporary.there will always be discontent/flaw in the solution.

Tomorrow we are celebrating the German Unity Day, which also demonstrates that a lot can be accomplished without violence.

I heard at the time, there was another indian leading a violent revolution (and this one is well known in india but not in northen countries). Same for Martin L King. ((Warning really uncommon belief ahead : )) And dalai lama is an imposture
So i believe in both.
