I didn't know everybody's into it (except you of course)
Edit: mc is main character? I keep thinking Mike controller :/

Everyone's been talking about it and recommending it, that's the only reason I even played it.
And yeah, mc is main character.

Everybody being into it is kind of a broad statement.
Personally, I've never even heard of this Doki Doki Literature Club.
Don't even like visual novels so....

I actually would recommend this to folks that aren't normally into visual novels. If you can accept that you'll play an easy going dating sim where you get to pursue girls by writing them poetry, I think you may be surprised by how much you'll enjoy it. I wrote it off initially, but I just played through it based on a recommendation and I loved it.
And not having heard of it is actually ideal. This game likes to surprise you, so just like Pony Island it's best to not read anything about it and go in blind.

I like the idea of it, even though it was spoiled to me by every single person on the internet before I knew of the game's existence(thanks internet.) But when I played it, I just didn't get into it. The game style/genre is not meant for everyone, it's a shame really, since I like those kind of games but the build-up/secret ending just takes way too long to get into.

Doesn't the game only take 4 hours?
But yeah, it got ruined for me too, but it sounded pretty good so I tried anyway.

I have no idea. All I know is that it's a cheesy weeb dating sim that plays out like one for a while till it turns good. And I don't like cheesy weeb dating sims. I swear I was 10 mins in before I started skipping dialogue, and at that point it's not worth it to continue because I clearly don't care about those walking stereotypes.

Sorry about that, but I can kind of understand that. I just played it and loved it myself, but I can see how it may feel really weird to play if you can't put yourself into the mindset of a teenage boy excited over spending time with four attractive girls.
I can't say I relate to any of the characters, but I still enjoyed them, particularly Sayori and Natsuki - I thought Sayori's cookie antics were hilarious. I think after playing so many serious and gritty games, it was pleasant to just play something so light-hearted and silly. I think I grew to care a little about the characters, even in their silly, anime / manga way.
But I also really liked the clever twists the game took. It made me laugh with joy many times, and is one of very few games to be able to do so. I'm replaying it now to get the better ending, and I'm picking up on all these clever little bits that I didn't notice the first time through but that make me appreciate the game more.
At any rate, I loved it, and totally recommend Doki Doki Literature Club to those who like VNs, and even to those who typically don't. But it's okay that you didn't. I don't like some popular games that everyone else can't stop raving about, so I know how weird it may feel, but it just means your tastes didn't match up with the game. It happens.

I've never heard of it before, so I have no idea if I would like it or not. Thank you for the giveaway, though!

Lol, I love how my mere existence upsets you. Ya always gotta bitch. But it's been said that kids are only as catty as you if they got a crush on you. Gl😚

You know, to be honest this post kind of convinced me now to leave this site. I used to like it as a forum, but...
First, there's the problem of "level elitism", which kinda upsets me as it's supposed to be a "gifting" websites. At the same time, most people here are 100% fine with people winning games and not playing them, ever, just adding to the pile that they have.
Also, now, comparing this to something that has more "sense" IMO: Reddit. Imagine that you go on /r/games and post this. Just imagine it. It would either be deleted by mods, or downvoted into oblivion along with comments of "who cares?". This contains zero meaningful discussion.
I mean, hell, you didn't even say anything new. People have different tastes and relate to different characters? TIL. If you wanted to give your opinion, then you'd have written a review. And just imagine how this post would be treated as a review.
And I'm only trying to prove a point: this post doesn't really serve any purpose. I'd be totally fine with it if it were a chat on IRC, Discord, whatever. But it just... clatters the website.
And don't make me start on all of the "SG celebrities" that are here. The amount of contrast that there is between here and any online community I've ever seen in that respect is incredible. Again, on Reddit nobody would recognise you. And really, if you posted enough to get people who "regularly" hate you, then I'd say that you're doing something wrong.
And then the response which is also pretty freaking meaningless. And an emoji at the end. Along with 'slang' and tons of shortened words. Not making it easy to like you from the point of view of a non-native English speaker.
So yeah, thats my thoughts on the website and community.
Gonna buy Oneshot and Undertale and give it away on some small IRC chat or something. I think that I'd like that more.
Merry christmas and have a nice day.
EDIT: Had another thought:
1: I'm surely going to be blacklisted many times for this comment - don't really care. Just pointing out that in my opinion, a forum doesn't go along well with a website like this. I've already gotten like 15 blacklists for disapproving homophobia and ~3 for arguing that no, not every person who pirates games is morally evil.

I can't argue with the level elitism.
The backlog of won games not played is definitely something im complicit in :/
This ain't reddit. This is a forum. Forums are fine with people posting irrelevant shit, that's why there's categories.
And sg celebrities are pretty annoying, and it will always be awful on this site with how prominent users are displayed by thier content. But in reddit people do get regonized in subreddits all the time, I have no idea what your talking about.
I've made posts specifically to get people to hate me, so I did pretty alright imo. And people will hate me just 'cause of how I was born so weather peeps hate me I don't feel is a great metric. The fact I got people who hate me so much they can't ignore me but have to write some asinine comment everytime is interesting.
But yeah, my post doesn't say anything meaningful. It's just an excuse to give a giveaway, the purpose of this site.
If you dislike me 'cause you can't understand a comment specifically directed at another person, I really can't force myself ti care. And the emoji was supposed to piss 'em off, so glad it got thst response.
It's cool that I barely use this site but can still get people to leave. Sorry to be the straw that broke the camel's back.
Oneshot looks nice, hope you enjoy!

I've noticed some issues with the whole thing in what they were trying to do.

Ahhh what?! I went in with a pretty clean slate, not knowing what to expect, and really really liked it.

As overhyped as Undertale. It was kinda good, but not best thing ever.
WARNING, unpopular opinion:
Game would be much better without Monika. The idea of fucked up VN is good but Monika was in no way interesting. Also Monika memes are not funny.

I downloaded it couple of days ago because 3 people directly recomended it to me xD
I haven't played it yet. Mostly because one of my friends was asking me about it every day. So I play other games and I imagine how he can't stand the fact that I'm not playing it yet xD

I just finished the game. Was going to create a thread or something and recommend the game because its free. But made a search first and found this thread. I think that its a little odd because I dont even like dating sims/visual novels that much. But I found it fairy interesting even before the 2 hours mark, when the f*cled up things started to happen :)

I know everyone's into it but I tried it and just couldn't relate to the characters. There was such a disconnect between me and the mc that I couldn't stand going through his mindset for the story.
So yeah, thats my thoughts on the game. have this then I guess. https://www.steamgifts.com/giveaway/kpMgV/sakura-shrine-girls
