SMNC and TF2 are my favorite F2p games on Steam.

TF2 or Fallen Earth, both good f2p games. I have tried out DC Universe/Lord of the Rings online as well but those both come with other access to the game that you would need to pay for.

In my opinion is Team Fortress 2, Age of Empires Online and Rusty Hearts.

I haven't really seen anyone say this, and it's an oddball choice, but I used to thoroughly enjoy champions online: free for all. Lots of ways to customize, easy to become prominent. Community is cool and you absolutely do not have to pay to win. pvp sucks though.
