Tell steam support you got a scammed code and to disable your game from your steam account.

Dirt 3 keys are not "leaked". They were given away during promotions. All you had to do was to fill a survey. There were limited keys per country, but that didnt stop idiots from collecting the keys.If anything, they were exploited, not leaked. It's not illegal to use them.

PS: Since the person who posted the keys DOES NOT HAVE a receipt for these keys (you don't get one for filling the survey), he does not have the ability to claim the key you redeemed to be his. Thus, he cannot compromise your steam account.

sorry, I was not informed about such a leak.

Edit: read a few things about the leak, and I read things like this:
"Codemasters will likely send over the entire list to Valve so that the numbers can be blacklisted and the games quietly removed from user accounts."
It does not look like valve would ban a steam account on these grounds, but the redeemed keys being removed seems likely.

ya but using them after knowing all this has happened is a huge risk, anyone trying to give away dirt3 keys should be banned

I think that all the "exploited" keys were removed. If the code worked you are not in trouble.

this is true i think... I had a registered legit code and gave to a friend before the leak... he had waited a couple days and by the time he activated it, the leak had happened and a month had passed over it (he wasn't aware apparently the whole time lolz) and he activated without problems.

the leaked keys were removed except for the ones that were redeemed prior to the leak via legitimate means (through the unique ID code on your graphic card or through the survey)...

The only thing I've won here is a leaked Dirt3 key. It got removed 2 days after activation without notice.
I did not get banned, VAC is still in good standing. Don't shit your pants, guys.

The main worry with this would be potential account suspension - permanent or temporary. A VAC ban over it (never having played the game - does it even use VAC to begin with?) would be monumentally stupid.

I got one from some other places several days ago

Haven't installed it yet

Knowing that I won't be banned for it, but still worried :(

Game is still in my library

When I'd used the key I'd expected it not to work and when it did I was regretting it almost immediately. Much in the same, have not bothered to install the game and now just periodically check to see if it has been removed or not.

Good on ya. Speaking for myself I hate racing titles on the PC (some may be truly amazing, but that doesn't really sway me) and I've only ever played them on console (the last being Project Gotham on the Xbox years and years ago). I even try to avoid games with racing-like segments in them if possible (which is why I haven't bothered with the GTA titles in my library).

BTW, instead of promo, this is a retail key :O

retail keys for dirt 3 cannot be activated on steam as far as I recall. check the support article here for the games that can. Your key is most probably a steam code from the promo like the rest.

I don't know, it just said Retail instead of Promo

If the game has been activated, the key that you used is NOT a leaked key. It is associated with the unique id that you used to register to get your activation code on the amd promo site and are legitimate. If you got the game removed from your account, then it was most probably not associated or registered on the amd promo site with the unique id (i.e. leaked key and not legitimate)
