I can certainly attest to that fact.

If a site tells me to disable adblock, and doesn't give me the option to defer the choice, I just assume by default they're intentionally trying to open me up to spyware/malware/etc (if nothing else, if they don't show respect towards consumers in that regard, it's highly unlikely they'll show respect in regards to properly managing their ads), and 1: counter their anti-adblock or 2: ignore the site entirely, even going so far as to add it to my blocked sites list.

I've actually disabled adblock when forced to do so maybe a total of 4 times in the past 4 years, and that exclusively for sites that had no form of competition [as, for example, EVERY news site does, making forced ads on news sites inherently self-sabotaging]. :P

Then again, spyware/malware primarily targets those who are naive about following commands, so if we assume those sites ARE doing it intentionally, it makes sense. If we assume they aren't, then I just gotta wonder at the quality of their marketing and management teams. It'd still make sense, if we assume the majority of people just don't care.. but then, if they bothered installing adblock in the first place, is that actually likely to be true?

Srsly with all that money and they can't hold the servers.

Also is their central database on 1 single server only? What a stupid s**t.

Thats what happens when a company holds the monopoly. But epic ea uplay all of them are bad and steam is good.

If there was no competition steam would be so much worse.

oh definitely. we might even get to a point where there'll be no more key generation possible and you'll have to buy games for Steam strictly off Steam. altho, good guy Valve would never allow publishers that much control over their own platform.
but you never know. . .

What pisses me off about this more than the fact that it's down is the complete lack of communication from Valve or steam part

I thought this was going to change after HL Alyx but old habits never die I guess.
