How did they find Gene Hackman, his wife, and his dog passed away at his house and then state "No foul play is suspected".
SOMETHING definitely happened, you can't tell me that all three of them died of old age at the same time.

Maybe it was suicide? This wouldn't be "foul play".

Notthe dog. But it wasn't foul play like if someone murdered Gene and his wife.

I'm going to guess that carbon monoxide poisoning will end up being the cause.

Also a possibility. And also without foul play.

I'm not sure of anything. When authorities will make their final report, I'm sure it'll be all over the news, unfortunately.
It's sad way to go at any age anyway regardless of the specifics.

No foul play is suspected is police/journalist speak for: they don't think somebody from the outside caused it. eg: Somebody broke in and did it. So it was self-inflicted or an accident. Most probably a gas leak in this case if the dog also passed away. Very sad!

Reminiscent of when Weird Al's parents both died in their sleep. Terrifying.

If you're able to, buy and install CO monitors, people. Remember: they and smoke detectors go bad after 5-10 years, due to the half life of the radionuclide used in detection. Pay attention to the discard date on them!

I think that is due to aging electronics. The americium 241, often used in ionization smoke detectors, has a half-life of above 400 years. There's also a type of optical smoke detector that uses a light sensor.

Whoa, nuts. I knew it was americium (didn't bother to look up the isotope or its half life), but just recalled hearing ages ago that it was due to decay. It's been a LONG time since nuclear and radiochemistry in college, but I always assumed I learned it in there. Apparently not. Thanks for the info!

Also, I remember watching that video when it was new. Used it as info for replacing our smoke detectors, which were giving panic alarms fairly often. (They were a few years past their date, and they were on the fritz.)

Also Michelle's ultimately useless liver transplant at 39 is heartbreaking. Just five years my senior. And I doubt she was a heavy drinker, so her liver failure could be attributed to hepatitis and not cirrhosis. Gone too soon.

Well, he was a great actor, loved him - but at least he managed to live a long, long life. Don't know who this Michelle Trachtenberg was (looking at her filmography, apparently I've seen in Gregg Araki's Mysterious Skin, but for some reason I don't remember her - maybe she stayed in the shadow of those two awesome boys in the main roles, Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Brady Corbet), but damn, she was young - not to mention that we were the same age, and this stuff always hurts.

The first movie that comes to mind is EuroTrip, she was one of the twins.
