PS3 I guess. Good library with plenty of variety. Lots of AAA games, lots of indie games, lots of niche titles by smaller developers.

As for cons, the obvious. It's almost reached the end of its rope so no more first party support and scarce third party support. A few cross-gen titles and some niche japanese games.

I have both and advise you to get a xbox. Way less issues and more important, much easier to buy cheap games for. Only 2 different versions so almost every game you buy second hand for only a few euro's will work. If you keep an eye on the deals you can buy a year subscription for 30 euro's instead of the normal 60 euro's a year. PS never has these kind of deals as subscription is only valid in 1 country.
Xbox is also many times faster in downloading, switching screens etc. Always trouble with PS because of the many restrictions etc. I've bought many games for my xbox for less then 4 euro's from all around the world and never had a problem. Bought a few PS games second hand and only the ones from a local shop for over 10 euro's each worked.
If you have a console you also want different games to play, so unless you are a millionaire buy an xbox.

Me too. I've been a console player for most of my life, I owned both systems and, except for some exclusive titles, X360 was (and is) by far my favorite from that generation.

highly disagree, ps3 is free multiplayer unlike 360 (& ps4), you need to list exactly which games you tried that were region restricted

OP's steam profile says USA, so there should be little to no regional issues, plus good cheap availability of old (sealed) & used games

If you like JRPG :

For anime style JRPG : choose PS3
Especially for Tales series
and Super Robot Taisen series
and a lot of other JRPG

For exclusive JRPG : choose XBOX 360
Lost Odyssey
Infinite Undiscovery
Magna Carta 2
Tales of Vesperia
Blue Dragon

Lost Odyssey is easily the best RPG last gen, from the real creator of Final Fantasy

I have PSP PSVITA PS3 and PS4
I sold my XBOX360 and games
The low number of exclusive JRPG not enough for me to keep the console.
Although most XBOX360 JRPG exclusive is of high quality

Quality wise XBOX360 > PS3
Quantity wise PS3 > XBOX360

If you not into JRPG then obviously XBOX360 is the choice, but most of XBOX360 games is on PC too, except the said JRPG.

I hope those exclusive JRPGs release on Steam someday

if you're not into jrpg, then ps3 is the choice with its exclusives over 360 (if the pc is good enough)

I'm playing it right now. It's been a long time since I found a comic relief as Jansen to be actually funny. Great lines, great voice actor.

After seeing a kid gets possessed
"Wow! Puberty is weird"

Or just right now, before a boss battle with a Sorceress
Kaim: Get her Jansen!
Jansen: Can't Seth do it?
Kaim: You heard me!
Jansen: mumbling No I didn't...

Great acting.

I don't remember the details, but thanks for the video :) Man it's a pity this game was never ported to PC. This is what Final Fantasy should be like. Make sure you get all the dreams, as they are really amazing stories. I got all achievements, so I got to see everything (but that treasure hunter achievement is insane, hehe).

Xbox 360 if you like more like family games and want free backwards compatiable when you move to Xbox One. PS3 if you want those Jap titles which are somewhat peverted and paying to play old games with lag that makes it hard to play real Jap games like Dark souls. Microsoft seems like they hate any game that is perverted for example Onigiri(Great free to play game(Barely covered cat girl, most of the partners you summon are girls)) came out on Xbox One Oct 2nd for USA but cant be found unless you search for it in marketplace by name.

I like the Wii, most.
Between the other two, it's a toss-up.
If you like more of a actiony feel to your games, 360 generally wins out, if you like more of a steady pace to your games, PS3 generally does.
But there's so much overlap and similar-but-different exclusives, it's really just a matter of finding which specific exclusives you like most, and basing off that.

That being said, I mostly own 360 games and found the console much easier to play on.
PS3 seemed more stable [later models, anyway], and had more interesting exclusives (to my tastes).

Demons' Souls, Metal Gear Solid 4, err... I can't think of anything else worthwhile. Which is still more than for the 360, despite its larger library.

I'm surprised by the amount of PS3 votes. I just my sold my xbox, and I had so much fun with it for the last 7 years. I missed some exclusives, but the xbox 360 controller is so great I even use one to play games on steam.

You'll have similar advantages in both systems, so I think the most important factors to consider buying either console are the controller, the advantages in their paid models (PS PLUS vs Live GOLD) and the games you feel you would miss if you owned the other console. This is also a great time to get cheap used games, as everybody wants to play the ones from the new generation.

I still have my xbox 360 and I think it's a great system, I have it since 2008 and got plenty of titles, but the truth is that ps3 has more exclusives right now, xbox lost almost all of them over those years while the ps3 are still exclusives, for the most part. So if he has to catch up to old games he can get most of the multi platform titles + the ps3 exclusives using just one console.

I'd won't consider the free multiplayer on ps3 as a bonus since most of the people are already on the new generation of consoles so the ones playing online will be relatively low anyway on both systems :)

Nice points, I guess you're right, except for the controller, which for me is a real con factor. I never got used to the PS3 controller (the ps4 ione is a lot better).

Yep i agree on the controller, the 360 one is better (especially triggers) but the dpad is shit, they fixed it in the new versions of the 360 controller though :p

PS3 obviously tons of JRPG including Demon Souls or anime style JRPGs, tons of good fighting games, Heavy Rain, Beyond Two Souls, The Last of Us, Uncharted, etc, etc. Free online, unlike Xbox 360.

Xbox 360 has one good thing, their controller, nothing more.

I guess the PS3. Simply because you don't have to deal with the Red Ring of Death (modern games heat up the Xbox like crazy), on top of that PSN is free.

Get both. If you can't, go through each console's exclusive games list and see which works better for you. Wikipedia for example has whole lists.
Multiplatforms are usually better on X360.
Controllers are different, but both do their job.
PS3 plays BLU-RAY's.
Multiplayer and socialising in general is better on X360.
Latest versions of both consoles are good, so talking about reliability is pointless these days. That was at the beginning.

Its sad how the wii wasn't included in this vote. Wii really had the best first party games you can offer. Super Mario Galaxy, New Super Mario Bros. Wii, Super Smash Bros. Brawl, The Legend of Zelda: Twilight Princess and Skyword Sword. Even Wii Sports was fun to some extent but it can with the system. Wii even did better than the PS3 and Xbox 360. I have all 3 systems. PS3 is fun. Play with your friends online for free and have amazing exclusives such as God of War, The Last of Us, and Little Big Planet. Xbox 360 was also really fun to play. Playing Halo was pretty fun but not my choice of game. But the controller...omg....amazing. Xbox One is way better now. Now I own a PC and that beats it all. Nintendo comes close second. This is my list to best to worst with the Xbox 360, Wii, PS3 , and PC

  1. PC- emulators, wide variety of games and indies.
    Percentage of Awesomeness: 98%
  2. Wii- Mario, The Legend of Zelda, and Super Smash.
    Percentage of Awesomeness: 92%
  3. PS3- I prefer the Sony exclusives
    Percentage of Awesomeness: 88%
  4. Xbox 360- I wasn't to fond of the games on it, but the controller is amazing. I use the Xbox One controller on PC though
    Percentage of Awesomeness: 80%
This is all an opinion. My opinion
PS...Im still waiting eagerly for Dead Island 2.... :)
