Devil May Cry -series (especially DMC 3) and Ys -series, those are the ones I'd recommend. :)

Titan Quest, Dungeon Siege 1 & 2, PATH OF EXILE fully recomended.

I really liked the closed beta, but I'm currently waiting for the Steam release.

DmC series the best. Newest one is good in this aspect too and if you play with keyboard much easier to play than previous ones.

I have a liking for the BloodRayne games, but that's just me.

For beat em ups, I recommend you to do some research of the Streets of Rage Remake engine (BoR I think it's called), several full games were already released and some of them are very, very good (like the Marvel one).

Darksiders 2 is almost a hack and slash but with more of a story/openness to it
