Hi, could somebody help me with a basic questions please?

Does key redemption work the same way on Bethesda as on Steam, e.i. if I attempt to activate a key for a game I already own, is the key still valid? Or is it used up already? (asking because of an accidental purchase after an impulse buy, just to find out the same impulse buy has already happened in the past and I had forgotten... now I tried to activate a second key for a game I already own). I want to give it to somebody, will the key work for them?

Thanks in advance for an answer

(I suspect it should still be valid, but I want to be sure)

thanks for a quick answer, it's Wolfenstein: Youngblood, bought from a region where no region lock should be applicable (e. i. I'm not in Germany, nor Switzerland, nor Russia - I found on Steamdb that those countries receive region locked copies for some reason)

Switzerland is actually the best place to by the Machinegames Wolfenstein games from on Steam as they get a package that includes both the German and the ROW versions of the games in a single purchase. I had all the games gifted by Swiss users so I could get both without having to buy the German versions separately.

is it only for collector value or is the German version somehow different?

In the German versions the plot isn't about Nazis, but the so-called "Regime". Thus descriptions, characters, voice samples and textures are different. No differences regarding gameplay.

thanks for info. kinda weird though, but I'm not German, so I can't judge. I would think that any media that condemns Nazis is good media, but maybe there is a deeper reason that I don't understand for it

The depiction and usage of Nazi symbols wasn't allowed at all in games until recently. Now it's allowed, if Nazis are as depicted as they have been and the game is considered art, just like it has been for movies, TV shows, books etc. before. Therefore there won't be special German versions for Wolfenstein required in the future.

I know I'm derailing the topic, but I checked your Steam and you're German, so I can't help but be curious: that film Jojo Rabbit with Tiki Waikiki - is that "nazis depicted as they have been"? can the movie be viewed in Germany?

Haven't seen it yet, but yes. It was shown in our theatres with entry allowance starting at an age of 12 years.
The "depicted as they have been" just means that they may not be glorified nor their actions be belittled.

I wanted them partly as a collector (cries in Wolfenstein 2009) and partly as an achievement hunter.

you were right, the key worked, but a VPN had to be used to activate the key, as we were in different regions :( I searched Steamdb and did not find Canada as a region locked option, no idea why Bethesda works like that

It's not so much ON as FOR, unfortunately. Indiegala sells Wolfenstein keys as Bethesda activation, unfortunately -> from the store page of Youngblood "For key redemption a free Bethesda account is required"
