For many people this is true. Maybe make another points system that doesn't affect giveaways? Something like a +1 for when someone likes a giveaway or thread. Try to get people who are trying to farm CV points to work on some other points system.

No, they screwed everyone over. Most people wont buy dozens of a bundle just to give away, only some. The games I would give away from the bundles would be the ones I already had; in just about every bundle I've gotten, there would be 1-3 games I already have. I would have liked to given them away here, but if I'm not going to get a reasonable CV value for them, why should I? I can get my cost back by trading them on ST, or give them away on other sites where being bundled means nothing. And I bet hundreds, if not thousands, of others are just like me.

I agree that CV corrupted this site. It made the site be based on CV instead of generosity. I gave away lots of games before CV was around, but once it was there it became part of the considerations. I'm less likely to buy and gift a game that is on the bundle list. I'm not saying that in a theoretical way, I really didn't buy some games on a Steam sale because they were on the bundle list, and I would have gifted them otherwise. And it's not like I really care about CV, and really I shouldn't and I have no reason to, but because it's so much a part of this site I find it hard to ignore.

Example: Forge. I still have gift but now this game got and what to do now? Share this game here? Why? This is not fair. Others got CV, I - nothing.

I don't want nothing in return, but when someone blocks giveaways (CV) sharing games has become pointless.
As I said: how many people still want Alan Wake? 5000-6000? How many 1 $ keys people have? 1000-2000? When people run out of keys no one give Alan in future because even with discount everyone chooses game without .
Now you understand? Each = -1 game from potential gift.
Look at HIB2 - each giveaway 2000-3000 entries. Why? Because Braid, Cortex Command, Osmos, Machinarium, and Revenge of the Titans got tag and now you don't have chance to win these games.

Hypothetical situation.
Each SG member create GA with CV more then 30$. Now we have someone who share only games with *, but he buying this games, hundreds, thousands and .....? he still have only 30$ and can't join any GA.

Eh...everyone has said just about everything but I'll leave my small opinion. This site won't die that easily, that much is obvious. And everyone has their own reason for giving things away. Myself, I do take contribution value into play to an extent.
If it is not in a bundle, I give it away here, simple as that.
If it is in a bundle and is a tradable copy, I send it on over to playblink (P.S. this only happened once).
If it is in a bundle but is a key, I take it on over to reddit to give it away. Because in the end, the generosity of giving it away doesn't necessarily mean I have to do it on this site. As long as someone gets the game, the end result is the same.
This is why I'm glad my gifted copy of Forge was given away in advance of the latest bundle (I had a second copy but I was considering trading it or giving it away later, but my choice was made for me when the new bundle hit). Farming contribution value doesn't matter for me concerning bundles, because things like Amazon are good enough if you wait for the proper timing. And this isn't a strict rule set, I have given away a game that was in a bundle since reaching the limit because I didn't care, but it does lower my incentive to do so.
There will be plenty of other people to fill the void people like me leave, so it makes no difference at all.
I do wish games that were in BTA sections were excluded sometimes, like Saints Row The Third or The Walking Dead for what $5? That's more or less what you might pay for it on sale on Steam. But either way that wouldn't really affect my decision concerning that.

I thought about a different rule for bundled games. Instead of limiting bundled CV by a percentage from the non bundled CV, why not make bundled games value around 5% or 10% of their original value?
Example: if you could get 60$ CV from a bundle you get only 3$, which is the average price for bundles. You still get CV and are more encouraged to give bundled games, plus you can't boost your CV without spending some money.
It seems a reasonable idea to me, don't tell me that you could get 5$ of CV with just 1$ from the humble bundle because you can do the same with a gift bought on steam at 75% off.

I strongly agree. I recently went to gift forge but because of the recent indieroyale bundle its now worthless. To get decent cv nowadays it seems you have to spend your own decent cash. Not easy for the ones on low income or mortgages

The site did just fine for the year and change when bundle games were completely prohibited instead of having their values restricted. This is just more whining about not getting hundreds in value for a few dollars' outlay. Stuff it. I'm closing this thread. This subject has been gone over to death and it's just more flamebait.

Why? Because of the contributor system, people want to give away games that add to their Contribution Value (Not all of those people, i am one of those though) . But with www.steamgifts.com/bundles/list , which "excludes" games in that list leaving you with no Contribution values at all, really discourage giving games inside that list. How does this list get bigger? When Humble Bundles appear, the site adds them to the site in the blink of an eye, and it makes the games inside those bundles worthless to give away for years to come.
