Sux. Publishers set the prices, not Valve.
Stop complaining to them and complain to the publisher.
EDIT: This is also about the 999th thread about this.

Oh I also would complain to valve:
CS:GO
If you pre-order, you get 10% off, so the US price is currently $13,49.
In the UK, the price is £10,79, which is 25,35% more expensive.
In EU tier 1, the price is €12,59, which is 16,09% more expensive.
In EU tier 2, the price is €9,89, which is 8,82% cheaper.

I didn't said this was VALVe. I just want to say it's really weird and it makes me angry

You still sound like a whiny bitch! It's THE PUBLISHERS who set the price on their games. Why the hell do you think old Activision games from defunct studios still go for 20$ on Steam?
Comment has been collapsed.
A lot of it is also VAT, remember. It's not even all the publisher's fault. In most US states you don't pay sales tax for digital purchases, whereas in France you're paying 20% which has to be factored in. 16.26 + 20% is already 19.60 or so.

GoG is bound by EU laws and thus don't 'have' to apply VAT when providing their service outiside of the EU, but the US based Steam do.
Capitalism ho! Go USA!

Yes you're right but when I saw something like 30% cheaper in usd it's a shame.

Developers are stupid. VALVe never does this mistake. For example: CS:GO is 15$ in America but it's 11€ in Europe (maybe not equal but it's not 15€, so...).

This is for economic reasons. Every commodity is priced differently in Europe vs. North America mainly due to economies of scale, so European consumers are largely accustomed to higher prices. Retailers in the digital realm have found they can exploit this grumbling acceptance to make more money, so they do.

I love, how they convert into Roubles:)
Especially, when they make conversion errors (sometimes they think, $9,99 is the same as 99 roubles, lol)
I'm really sorry about those of you, who has to pay extra.
On the other hand we have lots of games region locked, language locked, separate versions with not working DLCs and lots of other problems:(

My favorite:
20 USD = 16 EUR
50 EUR = 60 USD
EA loves European people.

Also why do steam put the € after the price? In Ireland we write/display it like every other currency €19.99 not 19.99€. It's only a small thing but it really bugs me.

I know this is the way it is written in some countries, but when you choose the country in which you live Steam should localise it to the format used in your country or at least give you the choice to format it to the way you are used to using. It would only take a few lines of code.

You would find EA's Origin even sillier - Hot pursuit is 50eur in Europe and 20$ in USA (similar thing with Alice, Bad company 2 and Mass effect games)

One thing is clear: we in Europe are getting ripped off and that's not right. I propose we all send an email to the Steam Support (hoping we can reach at least 100 in two days) but we should petition or something.
You know, just show them we don't want this anymore. Hopefully they'll take us seriously and fear the boycott. If the boycott doesn't happen, we can always find something else. Even court - and I'm dead serious. I'm tired of being ripped off just because I live somewhere that isn't North America. If we take the Borderlands example, that's a difference of 8 euros (correct me if I'm wrong; my thinking is 24-16, as shown in the original post). So basically that's Borderlands+1 indie game if you're in NA, and that's Borderlands by itself if not.
If you go for the email, here's guidelines:
Remember two things though:
If support for my, er, mailing campaign isn't strong, I can at least say I tried haha. And I guess I kinda look like a troll or something, but let's be honest here: it's not normal for me to pay more for the same game just because I live somewhere else. And if we don't do something, nothing is gonna change. I know there's a group trying to change that, but I don't think they've been trying hard.
If you're with me on boycotting Steam just a little, there's other places you can get your games :P GamersGate is having a summer sale right now, there's GreenManGaming whom are very nice, there's GoG which dropped DRM and regional pricing... I know a lot of you - and I'm in there too - like Steam so that you can keep track of your games, but at some point we have to tell these companies what we think, or they're never gonna change their practices. A company's main goal is making money, and that's what they're getting when they charge 8 extra euros for a game.

it's not normal for me to pay more for the same game just because I live somewhere else.
Actually, it totally is. You charge what people are willing to pay for things in the area where you're selling them. That has always been true in every market in the history of mankind. For software, in places like Russia and China the prices are quite low because people have less money and are more willing to pirate. In America it's a bit higher, higher still in Europe in part because of VAT. This is not some brand new evil tactic that has never been done before, it's just how markets work.

What has also been true ever since markets started appearing is that merchants of all kind don't give a single fuck about their consumers. If they start doing so, they get eaten by competition. Unless we start changing things to get fair prices, they're not gonna do anything. I should point out by then that I have studied macroeconomics for three years, and if you have knowledge in that field it would be great to let me know so we can start using more specific words.
The Russian problem is interesting but not documented enough. From what I understand you can walk in a GameStop equivalent and buy a pirated copy off the shelf. But that's not coming from independent studies, that's coming from what I heard. Video game companies always whine that piracy is eating their profits, and instead of giving us the same prices as in Russia (adjusted for cost of living and all), they give us internet-only DRM, no resale...
I'm not gonna judge you so please remember that when I write this: you're a consumer. Even if you own your own company, at some point you're a consumer. If you prefer a hundred or so shareholders getting their way rather than you and the millions of other consumers in your country, I can't and won't do much more.

I find it actually worse on GMG, I get £ prices instead of € ones, and they usually are higher. At least on steam I know the number is the same before currency (between $ and €). Exemple, Dear Esther is apparentely around 1.50 in € while it is 1.73 in £.

Because most of time it isn't :
EU Steam : Borderlands = 19.99 € and Borderlands GOTY = 19.99 € ( WTF Same price ) = 24.5683 usd
US Steam : Borderlands = 19.99 $ = 16.2649 €
And there's 80% of the game that are like this :(
