Finally
I guess I'm in the minority, but I don't have a problem with betting sites as long as they're not ripping off their users and rigging the outcome. I agree that there were some shady practices going on involving streamers and whatnot that needed to be curtailed, but I'm not for banning e-sports betting altogether. I agree that gambling can be harmful, but I don't think that prohibition is the answer.

The problem is there is 0 control and responsibility. If Valve would take over and put in restrictions, guidelines and legal stipulations then no one would have a problem. You are not in the minority =) People do not have a problem with Gambling. The issue is illegal CS:GO Gambling claiming they are something they are not and predating easily influenced underaged users. And the other stuff they did and continue to do, like misrepresentation etc. But, Valve will never ever administer Skin betting/gambling because then they would have to admit they have intrinsic value and fall into an even bigger hole.

All markets create secondary markets, even if said markets are gambling outlets or mom and pop stores or yardsales or something.
Then all these sites need to do to continue operating, is just keep the gambling part of the site seperate from the steam login/api thing right?
If you create goods of any kind, they can be used for any purposes, donated to needy children, gifted to friends, resold at flea-market/yardsale, used as commodity in a gambling site, you name it.

"Using the OpenID API and making the same web calls as Steam users to run a gambling business is not allowed by our API nor our user agreements. We are going to start sending notices to these sites requesting they cease operations through Steam, and further pursue the matter as necessary."
