Hey everybody :)

I tried to subscribe to Humble Monthly yesterday, but I had no luck:
The payment method I usually use, which is a pre-paid card provided by my bank, got rejected. (I've always used this card for my online purchases: steam, amazon, even Humble Bundles/Store and so on...)
When I tried to use my paypal account, after logging in, it asked me to fill in my credit card details, so I did, but nothing happens... the page loads for a while, then it reverts to the previous state. I tried a couple of times, but, yeah, as I said, no luck whatsoever.

I opened a ticket in the Humble Bundle Support site, and while I wait for an answer, I wanted to ask you guys: has something similar ever happened to any of you? Does this mean that if I want to subscribe to Humble Monthly, I just have to give up on the card I usually use and find a new payment method?
Also... I'm guessing this isn't the first time someone brings up something like this, but I did some digging and I still wasn't able to figure out a solution to my problem.

They only accept Credit and Debit cards either from PayPal or directly(from pay with card option). I read it somewhere in their forums. They also don't accept PayPal balance.

I'm paying for Monthly by Paypal balance, you just need to verify your PP account.

I don’t know if this way is available in each country, but I verified it by adding information about my bank account. They send me two small money transfers and I needed to say how much did they send, to prove that this bank account is mine. After this I can pay with pp balance.

Yeah it's a bit confusing: when I subscribe for stuff (not necessarily HB), at first it appears that it will be taken from my bank account. But in the end, it's taken from my PP balance. I wish they'd make it clearer though, I don't really want to be charged on my bank account while my PP account contains more than enough :s

About verification, pretty sure that in my case, verification involved sending PP my ID.

What I don't understand is... When I try to pay via Paypal, it should give me some kind of error message, something like "this card has been declined" or whatever... if it did, then It would be clear that yeah, I need to use some other card (for whatever reason)... instead, it doesn't say anything. As soon as I enter the details of my card, the loading icon appears for a few seconds, then it just disappears.
What's weird is that from what I read on Reddit, paying via Paypal is how you solve the "Your card has been declined" issue.

You can try to link the prepaid card on paypal first, I know they say you can't but I've done it before years ago. Then maybe you can pay through paypal, and choose to pay with credit card after paypal pops up. Personally I'm using verified bank account and it's so much easier, except the whole no PP on amazon.

Same issue here, I have paypal linked to my bank account and pre-paid card. I always used paypal to get some montly I was interested in and never had this issue up until now.
I guess this is how the new IGN bundle management screw their customers.
Also my paypal is verified and I got enough money on my bank.
Found this on the humble bundle site:
https://support.humblebundle.com/hc/en-us/articles/206558898-Purchase-failure-assistance
"If you have a prepaid card linked, then this will affect your ability to purchase the Monthly subscription."

SOLVED!
I had to call paypal support and they did a system reset on my account or something like that. I just waited 20 minutes and tried again to purchase the bundle, this time paypal didn't ask to add any credit card but simply to accept the montly subscription.

Ok so it is a paypal failure. But it concerns me that this failure only occurs with HumbeBundle.

I think it's because of the subscription feature, since they will charge you at each renew maybe if you cancel and resubscribe a bunch of times (like I did) it will somehow affect paypal and you will need a reset.
I never had this problem with normal HumbleBundle one time payment and I think they are not affected.

Thank you guys for your answers and feedbacks :)

I actually managed to solve my problem by linking my bank account to Paypal.
Once the account was linked it stopped asking me to enter the details of my prepaid card.
I think, in my case, the system automatically detected that my only payment method linked to Paypal was a prepaid card, in other words something that wouldn't be accepted to pay for Humble Monthly, and it asks you to give something else to rely on.

Also... the answer from Humble Bundle Support wasn't helpful at all. They basically said "Yeah, no, you can't pay using a prepaid card for reasons... ", they didn't address the Paypal issue I had, and didn't offer solutions of any kind exept for saying "Our policy regarding this may change again in the future, so we advise checking back".
