Should I get this months Humble Monthly?
You want to get random games that you can't even choose and may be shitty? Then be my guest and buy it. xD

A big problem I have is that even when a game isn't shitty, I quite often don't enjoy it as much as I think other people do. I'm slowly beginning to suspect I might be a naturally negative person ¬_¬

No, don't worry, that's called gaming fatigue. I think I have it as well. Sometimes I play a game that is almost universally loved, and I'll play it to the end, and say meh. You need to find one game that will remind you of why you started playing games and just have fun with it. Example games would be GTA 5 or Rocket League. You can't not have fun with those games! They're like a palette cleanser that you can play in between all the stodgy 400 hour long RPGs that are supposed to change your life ;)

Barter.vg is great for trading away MH monthlies you don't want, and then obtaining wishlisted games in return that you do. This has been a lifesaver for me ツ

How many Monthly's have you received? I've bought two previously, and continually kick myself for not having gotten the Wasteland 2 one.
Which I think is what drives me to take the chance occasionally.

Edit: Bought 2 monthly bundles so far and missed 1 i wanted.

I git this month as well because I was happy with last month's bundle. I don't really want to miss any of these because I am afraid I miss out on some great indie games I might not be able to buy seperately as cash is tight this side. So I will keep getting these and giveaway the games I already own. The initial game they release ahead of time is usually good, so it provides good value to me. :-)

Buy bundle with a game you actually want and trade the "crap" for uppcomming games you might want.
Bought this one for Grim Dawn and the previous one for Soma. Was not much in the previous bundle i cared for but i traded it away and got about the same worth as i spent on the bundle.

+1 This sums it up so nicely.
It's pretty much all the tutorial you need, for any decision whether or not to buy the monthly bundle.
If you happen to like the early unlock, game go for it. Otherwise just wait and see. Just don't buy a pig in a poke.

I bought Nov 2015 ( to show my support at them trying something new ) and LOVED Besiege and Valkyria Chronicles. The other games, not too bothered about. But it was before I joined Steamgifts, so I just kept them all, even though I wasn't that interested.
I bought the May 2016 ( because it was my birthday and treat yo self ) and the one game that I was interested in, Mad Max, I traded away. Really not sure why I did that, in retrospect. The rest weren't really my bag.
Which brings us to Grim Dawn. I'm not huge into ARPGs, but I sorta like them? But they always look too fast and busy and I'm old and I don't know if I can handle that sorta rush ha. Currently, I'm kinda thinking about taking the plunge, because Grim Dawn does look nice, I guess.

I remember, at the time I was keeping it with the aim of trading it for Stardew Valley. But no one was biting.
Ended up trading it for Satellite Reign, which I suppose I don't totally regret....but after the first like 20 hours, I haven't really played it ( but I really should because it's beautiful and just like Syndicate which I loved as a kid )

Remember that you can always resell/trade stuff you don't want.

This might be what I'll do. Maybe even sit on the keys for a few months, wait until the sudden influx dies down, maybe get a better deal for them from folk who missed the bundle.

I'd never heard of it until it was revealed as the unlock. And looking at it then, I kinda thought...It looks alright. Mostly wishlisted it so it'd show up here, and over on my Barter.VG trades thingy.

Which month was it that disappointed you? I'd guess Aug2016, since that one seemed to bum a lot of folk out.

Well, I got the september monthly when I bought myself a 3 month sub... (about €33)
In this first month I got double the subs worth in games for myself, and about the same amount to gift here...
That means I still have 2 months to go on pure profit, like em keep em and if not, I'll either have some great christmas gifts for some fellow gamers on the cheap or I'll see my level rise on here...
Can't loose imho...
Comment has been collapsed.
A quality positive outlook.
And you're right, with Christmas coming, it might be handy to dole out to friends.
And, since we've got 2 months until Christmas, I've plenty of time to find some friends! Yuuuus! lol

I've managed to stay away from Humble Monthly until now, though there were wanted games. Pile of shame is already way too high and the games' prices will sooner or later drop even more. I think the only worthful exception would be a revealed multi player title due to player amount.

I like to tell myself that it's for my retirement. Then when I have all the time in the world, I'll have this collection of games just waiting to be played.
Course, I've another, what 40 years before I retire. But it's easier than putting money into a pension scheme, eh? ha

I've bought the new humble monthly and it was the first one i ever bought. I did it because I wanted to play Grim Dawn and so for me was already good enough, the other games are just a plus (and I will GA them if I don't like them). What I can say is that for now I'm having fun playing it, so I don't regret buying the bundle.
Still, if you don't have the money nor the need to buy it, the answer is pretty simple: don't.

My work accidently paid my wage into my Paypal one week, so I've a wee stockpile of money that's more suited to online purchases, rather than paying bills and junk.....
fingers in ears LA LA LA AND IT'S NOT EVEN POSSIBLE TO PAY BILLS ONLINE, SO THIS IS JUST FUN MONEY
¬_¬
Shhh. Don't tell the wife.
Comment has been collapsed.
yes you should. I subscribed this month and my gf too for Grim Dawn alone (which I will probably not play anyways). lets see what the other games will be, if things go wrong I will end up with 2x shitty games :)
Comment has been collapsed.
You banking on them having a bunch of multiplayer games then?
Or, one set to keep, one set to trade! BEST OF BOTH WORLDS!
Comment has been collapsed.
I will most likely go for BEST OF BOTH WORLDS if the other games are descent enough :D

only if you're interested in grim dawn - else you're buying a 12$ cat in a bag

The joke is, I went to make this thread the other day, but couldn't decide what game to give away, or if I should do a giveaway at all, or what poll options to put in, or to make them all serious or what.
I think my indecisiveness is ruining my life......................but I can't say for sure ¬_¬
Comment has been collapsed.
If you don't mind investing potentially some effort into trying to trade them away if you don't like them, you can take the risk. There is another risk though, that their sale value won't even cover the 12-dollar cost.
Honestly, if money is tight, there could be better alternatives than doing a 12-buck gamble. There should be games in your library you could play if you miss something.

And with the whole Brexit thing, the GBP has tanked against the Dollah, so what used to be about £8 is now closer to £9.50 / £10.
Can't wait for Trump to get elected for the USD to tank too, then I'll mop up with the inevitable exchange rate chaos.

And if the UKIP somehow wins the next Brit election, the UK can start wondering if they drop to the point of the rouble or not. ^_^
Seriously though, if you can't afford to potentially throw this much money out of the window, the worst that could happen is that you'll pay 4-6 dollars for those few games you are interested in. I know it sucks to be left out of a good deal in hindsight, but there are situations where it is better to not pay and miss out of something good, than pay and eventually don't get anything of subjective value in return.
Comment has been collapsed.
With most of the games being as-of-yet a mystery, we can base our considerations on the only revealed one: Grim Dawn.
Would you play it soon? Are you willing to pay $12 for it? ($10.80 if you're a new subscriber) And, most importantly: can you afford it?
If you answered yes to all, go ahead and buy it.
If one or more of the other games don't stimulate your interest, or you own them already, you could always dispose of them in another way (trade, resell, giveaway, direct gift...).
That's the policy I adopted myself, and so far, I have never bought a monthly, mainly due to lack of interest, but the few times I wanted to get it I couldn't.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's a good policy.
Do you regret missing any of the bundles?
Comment has been collapsed.
Yes, the April monthly. I wanted it just for the early unlocks (This War of Mine and South Park - The Stick of Truth), then the other games were either already wishlisted, or highly interesting for me. But my card was empty at the time.
Perhaps I'll have better luck this time? The October monthly might be my first one, after all.
Comment has been collapsed.
Maybe, because you never know which games you will get

See, my favourite thing at the minute is the GUESS THE HUMBLE MONTHLY thread, and I genuinely look forward to it each month.
And then I post my guesses. And they are all guesses from my wishlist.
And then a few hours pass, and I'm left thinking..."what if...what if that game does go in the bundle..." and I start drooling at the thought of my wishlist games being included and then I mentally talk myself into wanting the monthly.
Which, some 20 hours after I posted my guesses in that thread, to the here and now...and me making this thread ha.
Comment has been collapsed.
If you are interested by Grim Dawn buy it.
It is very likely that you will be able to trade the other games for more than what you paid. So at the very least, it is a way to convert $10 into cs:go keys, that you will be able to trade later for games you want. It remains a gamble of course, but it was profitable for me for september
EDIT: essentially what talgaby said.

I was looking into Grim Dawn and it looks nice, and everyone kept comparing it to Path of Exile....and I looked that up....and it's free!
What?!
And the mocrotrasactions supposibly don't fuck the game too much, so it's playable without them? But Grim Dawn looks nice. And it has guns, which most ARPGs don't seem to do. I like ranged builds for, well all games really, and normally that's just bows, which I'm not complaining about...I like bows.....But guns, man. Wild West revolvers! Pew pew right up in your zombie dish?
That's heavy swaying me.

A while ago, I came to the realisation that Ranin Wilson and Bill Hader were not, in fact, the same person.
Similarly, I've only just realised that Victor Vran is not actually The Incredible Adventures of Van Helsing. Which I have in my library for some reason, but have never played.
I mean, I think they are not the same? I...I actually don't know. They look hella similar haha
Comment has been collapsed.
They are very different. Depends what you want in a ARPG basically, there are conflicting definitions of this term.
Van Helsing is similar to Grim Dawn, PoE and ultimately Diablo (I've heard, I've not played any of these)
Victor Vran is more action and less RPG/loot.

the question you need to know the answer: the revealed game worth the bundle price?
if yes, you'll be very happy, because you'll consider everything else as profit.
if no, you tend to be regret, because you'll think that you overpaid something shitty.
the whole monthly bundle is a medium bundle (because it is one of the most expensive bundles available).
being the medium one is good because you can face as a good bundle or a bad bundle.
to avoid regret, always guide yourself thru the revealed one... you tend to not face a revealed shitty bundle as wasted of money.
Comment has been collapsed.
I don't know if it's me looking for reason and rationale in the unknown, but I always feel like if the revealed game is AMAZING ( like, the Mad Max bundle ) the rest of the games are kinda shitty because Humble have "spent their budget" on the top tier game.
By that logic, I convince myself, that liking the revealed game is a bad thing! Ha.
Comment has been collapsed.
thank god I don't like all games that were revealed... I'm still skipping some bundles (I'm kinda doing this more often lately)
Comment has been collapsed.
I suppose that Grim Dawn will be the best game from whole package :)
If you have time for trading leftovers then why not - but I would rather not buy anything blindly.
Comment has been collapsed.
I plan to get ever monthly bundle just cuz it's the occupational hazard as a streamer/let's player. Review shitty games or just try them out to see if you'd actually enjoy them!
Comment has been collapsed.
Prey for next month good per order game. Maybe this time...
Comment has been collapsed.
Just buy the next bundle when you really want to play the big game. While you expect for that month try every single game that you own in steam.

I'm not a super rich guy. I'm not drowning in disposable income. I've a mortgage, a kid and a wife, all of which sap away at my savings.
Do I really need 6 more games that I'm likely not going to want? Or already have?
Do you have too many games? Do you want another?
Help me Steamgifts-Kenobi...you're my only hope.
