Yeah, this event goes nowhere without the community. Hope it will be successful! :) In all the polls I made for the event, "No" was the most voted answer too, but Wallister's poll had more yes votes than no.

Yeah, I didn't mention participation as I wasn't actually after any per se.
I was going to do literally all the leg work myself and rope in a few friends to help me "judge" things to ensure people didn't get too salty about the results. I was also probably going to make the categories and giveaways myself too. The main thing I wanted to do was a fake write up and have the participation people writing silly little stories of how they are showing up. Maybe get people to "give away" the awards and maybe request speeches.
The more the community is involved in the process though, the smoother I think the event will be, I don't think I'm ready to take on an event of this magnitude at the minute, although my desire to do things for the community is growing again, so who knows.
I think its a great idea and its been on most, if not ALL the forums I've been a member of in my internet life. Its a silly way of saying thank you to a hell of a lot of people and could become a yearly "competitive" thing but in a good way. I just wish beyond all wishes that people wouldn't get their panties in a bunch at almost every unique idea that comes up on the forums, so I can't see this not offending at least one person.
My only advice would be to constantly point out that this is for FUN and it doesn't diminish anything anyone else does. Like I say though, its suuuuch a touchy event to make, but then again, people complained when I tried to make pretty much ANY event, I even got negative rep once for my achievement event which was fun.
