Slow downloading speed on steam

Works fine here, and no report of outage on steamstat.us.

It would help if you shared numbers. What internet connection do you have and what kind of speed are you getting? Do the test jbond suggested, and check your settings within the client, perhaps you throttled it before and forgot to revert it?

If the Steam server is fine, suspect your connection or download environment (provider/ISP).

Steam servers have been janky for me and several of my friends for years, getting periods where download speeds are slow and frequently stall (ie, even outside of initial major sale launch periods or Tuesday downtimes), where there's nothing to do but wait them out. If it's happening all of a sudden for you, and you haven't changed where you are geographically, then that doesn't seem likely to be your problem. Rather, sometimes swapping over to another local download server can fiix download problems, so you could try that.
