As others have stated, technically you're in the wrong as you won a game on SG and not activated it. Rerolling is allowed and for the reasons stated, I think that is fair. However, blacklisting can be done for way less reasons that this so that's up to the giveaway creator if he/she wants to be a douche or not. Being on a blacklist is very common these days on sg so don't worry about it.

I think the definition of a trojan is being mistreated here...
That being said, I don't see a problem with refusing a game as long as you haven't revealed the key. Reroll requests are easy and quick to send, and are processed pretty quick too. And it gives a chance for the game to be won by someone who will use it.
If the key was revealed though, I can understand the GA creator being annoyed. I mean, I once had a case where someone who requested a reroll had actually used the key but claimed they already owned the game...

I hadn't revealed the key. Before I reveal any keys, I go to the giveaway to thank the creator for the giveaway! :D
Then I reveal, redeem, and mark received.

You are a lucky person! Thanks to that blacklist - you won't need to deal with that idiot in the future :D
If somebody would tell me that game I'm giving away is pseudo-game virus - I would rather delete that GA.

I download all my games so that I always have them available to play anytime I want. I don't want to forget a game has a virus and accidentally download it later when I see I don't have it on my drives...
Besides, who wants a virus in their game library?! :o

I actually used to collect viruses a while back ^^ I mostly stopped because the alerts annoyed me when I was running scans, and because I lacked time. Notably I had a copy of I love you 👀

It's entirely reasonable to BL people asking for rerolls for games they don't own. It's just less trouble down the road.
I understand if they got it some other way and already have it, but not because people are randomly joining and not wanting it after all...

To be fair, I wanted it when I entered, and nobody had said anything about the trojan and crypto miner. It was only after the drawing ended and I opened the giveaway again that there were comments about it and even a link to a YouTube video talking about it.
Of course I no longer wanted it at that point. :/

I find it really hard to decide who is right and who're wrong in this matter.
The giveaway creator has a point, I personally would also feel that "I don't want the game" isn't a valid reason for a reroll. On the other hand, I can see where you're coming from - it shouldn't be YOUR responsibility to make sure that a game isn't a crypto-mining virus, that should be Valve's responsibility. Interesting situation.
In this particular case, if I was the GA creator, I would most likely have asked support to delete my giveaway instead of asking for a reroll and possibly infecting some poor guy's PC.

There was no miner or malware, just a lot of misinformation out there that's been explained well here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Games/comments/937e7m/abstractism_has_been_removed_from_the_steam_store/e3dke8s/

If that is true, it's a new development. I didn't have that information at the time this occurred, and the GA creator seemingly didn't care that (at the time we believed) it was a virus. That's what got me.

It's understandable to be concerned and while I don't think there's any duty to check something as unusual as that before giving away a game, he could have handled it better when you raised the complaint.
While I'm confident this game has no malware, an infected game in your Steam library poses no threat unless you install it - that said, there's always the danger of forgetting about it, or a family member/friend installing it, so maybe better safe than sorry given what you knew at the time.

I entered (and won) the game Abstractism before I found out it was a trojan which (among other things) mined crypto on your computer without your consent or knowledge. I posted on the user's giveaway thanking him for the giveaway, even putting a heart ♥ and explaining why I wanted it rerolled and I wouldn't redeem it. Others had posted on the giveaway about the virus (but after I had entered, so I never saw it before that).
I posted on his Steam profile to alert him to that as well. He replied telling me that he was blacklisting me and I was "lucky" he was rerolling it for me.
His exact message copied and pasted here: "When you join the giveaway no matter you randomly join or what, it is your responsibility to redeem the game if you win. It doesn't matter if it is a virus, that is the thing you should check first before entering the giveaway. And I am very polite to re-roll it otherwise you should redeem it."
Is this reasonable? Was I wrong?
