If homeless people had an arcade, that would be it. If said arcade also served drinks in brown paper bags, I would join them in a heartbeat.

It's not like fighting games use the mouse anyway.

Why are some people just so anti gamepad?

Have you never owned a console in your life, even when you were a kid?

The first thing I did when I bought my first PC is get a controller for all the driving, sports and action games I played, I would rather not play those types of games at all than having to play them without a gamepad... and that goes double for fighting games...

When I played the beta it was one of the better fighting games I have seen on PC.. hell better than some of the console ones I have seen as well.. also.. you are a bit obvious in this one.. Hint, if you really want to do stuff like that.. learn from the experts of doing that.. read through Blizzard forums.

I use a Logitech F310 as a controller, it works pretty well though I believe you might have to configure it with some games.
I've never played Skullgirls myself, though it confused me why you'd consider a game horrible simply because you can't use a mouse in the menu... it's a fighting game after all... You can't use the mouse, and if you could it'd be really weird. (Now I kinda wanna see someone make a fighting game that uses only mouse for controls...)

Did anyone ever actually buy that thing...?

I was convinced I owned it, but since the game isn't showing in my Steam account, I guess I must have only ever played the demo.

Interestingly, 3 people on my Friends list own the game, although it doesn't look like any of them have ever played it either :)

In fact, it seems that there's no players at all for the game.

I figured Divekick would be playable on a mouse, left click to jump, right click to dive.

There are games that are MENT to me played with controller. Any fighting, slasher (DMC series, Darksiders), Dark souls. If you dont have it - its YOUR problem, and YOU are an idiot, the game is NOT bad. Skullgirls is just not a usuall PC game, its hardcore fighting, very fast and unforgiving (not like tekken or mortal kombat, more like Guilty Gear series).

If you're complaining about having to use keyboard in the menu of a fighting game, then you shouldn't be playing a fighting game in the first place. And in regards to awkward controls - customize them? Is it that difficult?

Apart from the OPs problems with the lack of proper arcade game controller (seriously - a gamer needs both a gamepad and a joystick, Logitech makes awesome controllers) I found Skullgirls a bit disappointing. I guess I just expected Guilty Gear with different characters and combos + network play, but got something different. Not too much different but still. Sigh...

Hell I so wish the online multiplayer mod worked with GOGs version of GGX2 :-/.

wait... so you are playing dark souls with a mouse and keyboard?... use logic, ofcourse it would work best with a controller

I kinda get what the OP is saying. If a game is available on the PC, it really should have reasonable controls on the PC. I can't even count the number of times where a crappy console port has me "Press BACKSPACE TO EXIT MENU" "PRESS ENTER TO START" "PRESS SPACE TO INCREASE VOLUME", and other stupid control schemes. It REALLY doesn't take that much effort to implement a simple arrow-keys and spacebar (or any other 1 button) solution, and simple mouse for the menus (or GASP! maybe even used in the gameplay, how's that for innovation!) shouldn't be that hard. If you ARE going to implement a PC version, why not have these very basic things?
Also, I'm kinda not getting this thing about fighting games only work on gamepads. I've played them on the keyboard for most of my life, and in fact, find it difficult to do even the basic DOWN-FORWARD-PUNCH supermove thing on a gamepad stick..you have to jiggle it in some weird way, and it seems to end up working only half the time for me.
PC MASTER RACE! :D

Yeah thing is PC have used controllers since well forever, feels like everyone is forgetting this...and honestly a keyboard is crap for MOST people in fighting games. That said I prefer a fighting stick....

Also games rather cheap, a 360 controller and this game would still be less then a new AAA game.

What can I say? My PC didn't come with a controller. And I rarely ever buy new AAA games.

No offense, but it took you this long to figure out that you need a controller to properly play a fighting game?

On a side note, having played the game, I thinks it's okay. It's nbot bad. Just okay....

you need to use a steering wheel to play this game properly man. I recommend Logitech G29

Most steering wheels have a dpad and some buttons so they can be used as a gamepad, so yeah... ;-)

I have no idea how I missed this thread... oh, wait, I was busy playing Skullgirls with the keyboard. I've never had a controller and still don't. Heck, if I get one I'd probably be really awful with it because even back on my PS2 I didn't have any games that forced me to use the sticks. Well, maybe I'm not all that good at Skullgirls, but that's because I have fuck all experience with Fighting Games, not because the controls are any bad.

But, seriously, complaining about not being able to use a mouse in the menu? That's as low as you can get when spreading hate for the hell of it. What, did you fingers fall off when you were forced to use the keyboard to navigate during the 10 minutes you spend in the game?

I cant believe i just read this, you must be really trolling... why the hell you need a mouse interaction in a fighting game? Plus any kind fighting game its highly recommended the usage of a gamepad for obvious reasons...

Skullgirls is terrible with a controller. And it's a fighting game that was ported from consoles. If you had that menu on the xbox would you want a cursor? It's a really good game and even if you don't like the controls you can change them.
