Do you want to buy Journey on Steam?
Already beaten it on PS3 and PS4, I think I can skip it on Steam. :P

It's more art than game. But brilliant. Today we have much more (and better) than 2012, (Abzû etc..) but in 2012 was it the begining of art games. And it's a cool modern classic today.

Would you say that I'd like this if I enjoyed Abzu? I've been on the fence since it came out, and everyone who was freaking out about it cited the moment when you realize that the NPCs aren't NPCs, but other players as what made it such an incredible experience. I don't care about any of that, but I love exploring beautiful landscapes, and I've always liked deserts.

I haven't, but Gris has been on my wishlist since it came out. It also looks like PSN is giving Journey (along with some other compilation) away for free starting tomorrow. I don't have a PS4, but I've heard that you can play PS4 games through GOG Galaxy 2.0? I'm going to give it a try at least. Thanks for the recommend!

I tried to watch the game
There's your problem right there. :)

True, but it might still give you a wrong impression of the game. Watching and playing can be very different.

Yeah I really hope quantic dream will come gradually since you are right they are just popping up on steam now. I pretty much played heavy rain and beyond two souls to their limit when I had my ps3, only for those 2 games but I still want them again to put another few hundred hours into

I waited all those years to play Journey, and when Epic released it for PC, I was thrilled and got it. It's a wonderful game, and I'm glad I played it a year ago.
I haven't had any regrets with Epic either. It's fine. Being hung up on Steam to the extent of making oaths never to use Epic would be as silly as swearing an oath to only use Amazon and never Walmart online. Silliness.

^^^ Yep ^^^ (as regards Epic, at least, I don't have the game yet)

Unless you've been living under a rock for the past year or so, there have been multiple threads about EGS and people refusing to ever use it, etc, and others holding EGS as the saviour of gaming from the clutches of the evil empire of Steam. So, take from that what you will.
People have good reasons on both sides of the argument, but there's also a lot of snark in people's comments that makes either stance seem like just another irrational excuse to shit on either client.
I won't use it for a few reasons:
These are why I won't use EGS. Personally, I think it's a good enough reason for me. I'm not going to force others to see EGS the way I see it.

I read quite a few statements like "I swear I will never ever use EGS" in these discussions. Does that qualify? And why is "making" in quotes? Is that some kind of joke I don't get? ^^
Comment has been collapsed.
Nobody used the word "make" (he said "swear", which is why I found it so strange that you put it in quotes. ;)
Honestly, I think all he wanted to say is that many people are very passionately saying they will never ever use EGS. I don't think it's relevant if they actually swore a real oath or not. They are saying they will under no circumstances use that store. That's what's important, I think.
Comment has been collapsed.
Oh, you're right. Must have "missed" that first oath. ^^
Anyway, my points stands. I don't think he meant that someone literally says the words "I swear an oath". People are very passionately saying "I will never use EGS in my life". I am sure everyone who follows these discussions should have come across similar statements.

I use it along with many other things to buy PC games. I would rather have it on my Steam account since that's basically my main PC account but if the game is cheaper than I'll buy it from that place, wherever that may be to save money.
I would like to see Epic get achievements set up along with an account profile like Steam, GOG, etc have. I like to see friends progress in games and sometimes updates. Plus I also like showing off stuff I have achieved.

Nope, I like playing games and when i get a few free ones each week then what is there to hate.
Comment has been collapsed.
I never said I hated anything. I was saying as "What is there to hate?" Some people despise certain things because of their own reasons. Like some people hate consoles, some, hate Epic, etc.
Like there is nothing to hate is what I was saying.

It's just a phrase. I could have said there's nothing to dislike. It just sounds better in a sentence to me saying it the way I did. There is no hidden meaning or anything behind it you seem to be digging for.
You can look up lots of stuff on the internet though and there are many gamers who hate/despise/dislike, whatever you want to call it, stuff like Epic, consoles, you name it. People don't always seem to really hate things they just throw the word around because it just seems to be the word that comes quickly to mind for many.

I'm not digging, it's just an odd thing to say out of the blue. It's like I would suddenly say there's no reason to hit your wife or kids.
I mean, you can also look that up on the internet and you will find examples but what does that have to do with anything?

I didn't say it out of the blue. There was a conversation going and that was my response. So I basically meant I do not see any reason to hate Epic which many people actually do hate them.
Saying something out of the blue would be me saying in the middle of our conversation like "I smell my fingers after scratching my balls" when the whole conversation is about video games.
Edit: I reread what you said it is what I am saying in the second paragraph. Yes, saying "there's no reason to hit your wife and kids" while we are talking about video games would be a random thing to say when it's not even part of the subject.

Seems we just don't agree on what's normal to bring up in a conversation then.
Edit: Saying "there's no reason to hit your wife and kids" would be equally strange even if we were discussing family. Imagine if you told someone about your weekend away with your family and someone said that?

It all depends on the context of the conversation. We were talking about people hating/disliking, whatever you want to call it, Epic and I said I didn't see a reason to hate on them. Thus it actually relates to the topic.

Played this on PS+ I think on PS3. overrated. Didn't finish it.

If epic wants me to purchase anything there, then:
-they need to stop time or global game releases for 3 years so I can clear out my steam backlog.
-they need to make every single promising game to exclusives. There are still monthly like ~10-15 new games on steam I would like to try/play. This last one still problematic as timed exclusives would expire so I still could find games I want to play on a platform with cloud saves and workshops. So still a no.

not complaining, pure statement. No point to complain anymore as there are way too many good games out there, minus 2-3 each month because of exclusivity is not a big deal.
about Journey: it does not look like a good game. Perhaps the game itself is ok, but just because of the store page I would never buy it. The screenshots irritating my eyes. I am not someone, who want AAA graphic on every single game, I love indie games, but it feels like the game has gamma issues and there is like a white fog on the visuals. Is it a unity game? on many unity games that is a problem.

That point is valid for every single store then, not just Epic. And including Steam. ^^

I don't have PS4, so "Yeeeeees" =)
I like it much more than Flower - https://store.steampowered.com/app/966330/Flower/

I am fine with buying games on other stores anyway, so it's not big news for me. But I am glad it comes to Steam either way.

Anyone know if they fixed the launch issues with the PC version?
iirc it was missing motion blur that was present in the PS3 version, and had performance issues on Ryzen CPUs. I think you also needed to reduce some settings to get the original 'sparkly sand' effect from the PS3 (as opposed to the much more toned down effect on PS4).

Ah, I don't have much experience with those, aftereffects are a luxury when playing on a potato :D But depth of field feels weird as an idea, focus on the middle of the screen collides with our eyes scanning the whole screen. I don't think I'll like it.

I don't think I'll like it.
It's almost something I'd be prepared to say I hate, lol. I mean, everything we're not looking at is out of focus naturally, we don't need some extra effects for that. Guessing it's popular because of how camera lenses portray the world in movies.
