No one said you can't do both :)
It's a common occurrence in Islamic countries, to see people volunteering to offer free meals to travelers, and most importantly, the poor, the homeless and the underprivileged. So yes, it's a month of solidarity, but I wish it could happen all year long and not just in Ramadan.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, it does happen all year long, but we focus on it during Ramadhaan. It's a bit like how a person loves his or her mother all the time, but focuses on her during Mother's Day.

A wonderful day. as mentioned in the picture above with the title Eid al-Fitr every muslim adult who can afford it has to make donations to the poor. There are several instances where muslims make donations yearly.
For example:
yearly donation of 1/40 of your money/gold which is called Zekat which is one of the pillars of islam.
yearly donations to poor families which is called fitre.
yearly donations of meat from the sacrificed cow/sheep to the poor in the whole world.
donations which every muslim can do whenever he or she wants for charity.
Also many mosques open their gates to everyone in the 30 days of ramadan to give food to everyone who comes. the poor/ the rich. your religion doesnt matter. everyone is welcome.
The feeling part is also important to give more value to your position in life and to learn to respect everything.
Comment has been collapsed.
I get all of that... but. Why murder a cow if you can use it to produce milk products which will feed way more people than the cow itself and why murder a sheep when you can use the wool of it to keep the poor warm/dressed? I get the whole religion idea of the pig being sacred and bs like that, but that's literally the only useless animal for anything, but just killing it and feeding the mass of hungry with...
And there's a lot of things misleading of the idea of "Respect everything", in the Koran, or everyone doesn't fall under everything.
I was never a fan of religions, so I find the logic behind a lot the ideas, flawed.

https://www.thenational.ae/arts-culture/ask-ali-why-pork-is-forbidden-for-muslims-1.444442
Pig is not sacred, pig is unclean, important difference. That's some Indians and cows :) Or westerners who keep pet dogs and cats that are good for nothing instead of feeding them to the poor or something.
Sheep wool is little help to the hungry though :c.
Comment has been collapsed.
pig is unclean depending on what you feed it and a lot of Turks claim that Allah doesnt see out of asia so they just jump on the pork the moment they pass the Bulgarian boarder. Wool made into clothes and blankets helps in the winter. A lot. Cats and dogs are both useful. Cats hunt insects and mouse, while the dog defends your home and assists you in hunting.
So there is too many flaws in the whole thing. Kill a pig, milk a cow and make cheese ect, feed a lot of people. Shave the sheep tailor the wood, provide warmth for winter. Plus in some middle east zones, which islam is popular have very cold nights even during summer, so the wool has huge uses.
Aint my job to teach people or religions of how to be productive T.T
Comment has been collapsed.
Dogs assist in hunting and cats hunt mouse in metropolises and cities even today so they actually matter though? You were talking about present days, so I did as well.
And to really get real: there are polymer clothes, one can make clothes from hemp, and in some "weird" way muslim countries survived without the revolutionary idea of "maybe shear the sheep". They do. Not eating pig does not mean that people are eating sheep nonstop , lol.
In the source there are references to proper scientific test, pig meat is the worst because of it's fat content, and they can get parasites that no other domesticated animal get. Plus, as again, in the link - they are literally the messiest, uncleanest animals as far as rolling in their own shit - things are going.
Btw why are you eating any meat while it costs tons of vegetables / corn / feed to raise the livestock (and one could raise what to make bread for the poor), their manure is an environmental risk and constant trouble to transport, and eat insects instead that can be kept super efficiently, raised on basically waste, and have low fat compared to most meat? Could be so much more productive.
Comment has been collapsed.
Now thats a spite argument there. Cats and dogs still do the same and if you ask me Id pref corn than a stakes as it tastes better :p The fat of the pig melts while cooked, unless you eat your meat raw. And there is a reason inspections exists, cause nobody will eat infected meat. And you raise your fruits and veggies in animal shit, so using the excuse for pigs rolling in their own droppings is dump af. Why bother posting links and making excuses if you didnt at least check what farms use for the soil of food XD
check what clothes are made of, in a bit bigger detail...
Comment has been collapsed.
Have you ever been in a city, or in modern society? Majority of cats and dogs are kept as a PET, not because they are useful. When did you last heard people hunting with dogs in London, New York or any city lol ? Who hunts can use some dogs, but no, dogs aren't used to hunt en masse / in general since centuries.
'your' vegetables aren't rolling in shit, in majority of cases no manure used at the soil because it doesn't have proper and ideal composition, so fertilizers are used. Also difference that plants aren't 'shitty', they just use components through their roots and grow the crops, while pigs do roll around in feces which is a very nice base for many microorganism to thrive in.
And... I don't know why you think that every clothing is made out of wool. I haven't had a single woolen piece since years, because they are a bitch to handle, as you can only iron it while wet, and many detergents also mess up the protein structure of the wool (as dry heat would as well)
The fat doesn't disappear if you cook it... wtf are you on? What the hell is your reality, that you have absolutely no idea about so,so many things and every comment of yours is crammed with logical or factual mistakes, yet you think you can give recommendations based on it. Your arguments are like from a child's book about the past centuries, you're seriously out of touch to the point of being scary that you really believe in what you say...
Comment has been collapsed.
I love in a pretty large system. London doesnt even have a forest so don't compare it with that run down of a city. Hunters still use dogs for hunting. Farmer still use cats for mouse.
Meanwhile in France you literally need to close your window when you drive near a freshly fertilized field, as they literally use human crap and animal corpses for the fertilizer, so I don't know what school or what articles you read, but this is how it is.
And I never said that all clothes contain wool, and stop imagining wool as wool, there's refineries where it's turned into way lighter and easier to take care material. Even synthetic materials contain organic in them.
My argument aint from no child's book. Sure I live in a big city from 3 generations, but it doesn't mean I dont know how things really work. Maybe you live in a fairy tale where everything is made out of honey and there's no poor...

Kinda that is what pets are for nowadays, not hunting as someone so vehemently claims :D the cat-dog-horse isn't food thing is a cultural taboo in our civilization, most of us is in touch with this concept daily, whenever we see these animals as pet and not as a dish. This is why it's stupid to mock another culture's perfectly unharmful habits, that go back more than a millenium. Also we have the fasting before easter that lost it's point since it's possible to have fresh fruit and vegetable during winter, so it's not like the body needs recovery time from the preserved food diet (often with a heavy meat focus as it was easy to preserve in great quantities). Cultural differences are so easy to mock if we ignore the illogical parts in ours... but 'fat disappears if you cook it' Kapy just stay the casually xenophobe and racist as Kapy ever been. Drinking does't go well with arguing with someone who would lose a debate to a 5th grader, so I kinda made a mistake to even start trying to hammer some sensible thinking into their head.
Comment has been collapsed.
"racist xenophobe", meanwhile lives in a country where the people who enslaved us for 500 years, are welcome and live among us and we're the only country who didn't kick out the gypsy population yet (unlike france, uk and germany).
Glad you put tags on me without even knowing basic facts. If I was even a bit racist my current best friend wouldn't be from Spain, as Spanish are pretty much latino... you really got issues, don't you? And yeah the fat of the meat melts and usually is able to be used as a souse. The jelly part that's left on the meat itself is uneatable anyway and most people just cut it out, leaving clean meat. I don't know what advanced culture you live in, but that's how we do it in our "racist and xenophobe". Plus I already posted a lot of time in twitter, that people who are unwilling to live in the horrible conditions the west provides, there's tons of free villages that need to be renew with population. As in our gypsy and ex-slavers are doing a wonderful job scaring off migrants. Guess Im the xenophobe or racist for literally not doing anything bad to anyone, am I?
And losing an argument automatically makes someone a 5th grader, yay. Glad you're the one who went on direct offence here.
Comment has been collapsed.
Not knowing shit and still trying to give advice in a field is what makes you stupider than a fifth grader. I'll keep this short and simple, so you won't get confused about it. Get a book and learn about stuff before you act like you know it, while making repeated factual mistakes on the internet, where you could check your claims before posting it.

My claims are true I've seen them in person. So go eat your book and go and see it in practice. Don't forget to keep offending mr. I read whole day and think it's all like in the books, cause I never went outside to even check it myself.

If there is so much donating to the poor happening, why are the poor still poor? ;)

Food doesnt make you rich. But, the money collecting foundations are garbage, they steal a major part of the money... for example Blizzard just made 10m for breast cancer research and I asure you, the money will magically disappear with 0 progress or any funded surgery for woman who need it and cannot afford it and it might save their lives.

The main objective of fasting isnt to feel how the poor live, but to restrain oneself. Understanding how the poor suffer hunger is just an extra.
I would go over the details but I don't have the time for that atm. Just wanted to point that out.

the only thing i could tell is how much your weak personality is in need of a psychological help, on the other hand ignorance and ego comes together sharing the same roots.. can't blame you for your insecurities but the only thing i can do is to feel sorry for you hoping you could get better oneday :)

indeed you're not a doctor neither do i, but if someone to say something to me just as i told you which is quite not the first time to hear it yourself as i'm quite sure there's some others who said something similar or so, then perhaps it's time to one should start to reconsider their thoughts and words before spelling them out.

true i have no sense of humor at least nothing like the one you got which explains why i couldn't distinguish yours back, but the fact you're trying to harass people based on their beliefs in a tricky indirected ways then stating it as a humor makes it even more oddly sicker

I never used claws as a physical term, but did you just suggest you want to hurt me physically? Cause I don't think that would be a wise thing to do in public especially when you don't know anything about me. Well except your "weak personality" bollocks, which just supports my point
Comment has been collapsed.
my sincere apologies for getting you mentally worked out more than you already are in but any case... i don't think that what i meant is to hurt you physically but seems as i stated earlier your insecurities making you feel threatened even by the peaceful winds that kindly caressing your cheeks, and to wrap things up i got a couple of things left to say, we got an old quotes here goes by: if you put a dog's curved trail in a mold 20 years trying to straighten it up it will get back curved merely a seconds after as well as arguing with an ignorants making oneself no better than the mentioned.
will not be replying to this any further regardless of whatever you/someone else might say so feel free to express yourself as you like.
Have a nice evening :)

Funny. A person who is literally in a group named "Satan", schools me on how I am "bulling religion", while directly offending my mental state like 10 times. And later when he gets warned to not try to get into a physical confrontation, he just goes on trying to make you look as if you're insecure of yourself and goes away.
Guess when you got no legit arguments that's the best thing to do. Offend a few times and then run. Guess that's pretty swetish of you.

I'm just curious, how do you as a Muslim feel about this case? https://www.change.org/p/justice-for-noura-maritalrape-deathsentence-sudan
Edit: I apologize to anyone I might have offended, I've hijacked the thread without thinking.
Comment has been collapsed.
it's against Islam rules to marry a girl against her will to someone, but the thing is it happens in some areas, and yes, as a Muslim and a human being whats with this gibberish tho, muslims are human so as atheists or anyone else I wish I could fucking kill those bastards who violated a woman
Comment has been collapsed.
I signed the petition for her but I really wish we had better laws in our country there is alot of cases like this and no law to help them and the judges are males never really care about women the worse there is alot of muslim men think raping his wife is his right, and if man killed his wife he will never get death penalty, noura not the first one or the last.
Comment has been collapsed.
I'm not sure why you chose to insert that into a thread about "Happy Ramadan." Wouldn't it have better to make your own thread, one specific to the question, so that discussion could follow without being considered "derailing?"
Comment has been collapsed.
Simply enough, I read about this case just before I came here, fresh emotions and stuff. And I've meant exactly what I've written, this was not intended as an offence. I'm genuinely interested how ugly stuff like that is percieved in a mind of a Muslim, how it reacts with their religious beliefs. But yes, you are totally right, this thread was not a right place for such a discussion, and for that I apologize.
Comment has been collapsed.
Well, you've got two different angles of reaction, there: the emotional; and the religious. Cases of injustice and oppression stir up strong emotions in practicing Muslims. That is because both of those are abhorrent in Islam. Religiously, you have cited a case which violates Islamic Law, so it also offends practicing Muslims for that reason.
As a related side note, while there is currently no country in which Islamic Law is practiced and enforced, most Muslims (and pretty much all practicing Muslims) have an affinity for it and wish to have it implemented. This cannot be done, however, without establishing an Islamic State (Khilaafah), and that is something which those in power will never allow. (They would be out of power in a flash.)
Comment has been collapsed.
What does it have to do with being a Muslim? Yes forcing an underage girl to "marry" it is actually more akin to slavery to someone she doesn't want is disgusting. What they did to her is even more disgusting. I think husband's accomplices should be punished not the poor girl who was in self defense.
But you should know this is result of the corrupt misogynistic traditions of the said country. People accepted selling little girls under the guise of marriage as a normal thing. I think that is the major problem in here not the religion itself. I live in Turkey, a country where mostly Muslims live and marrying someone against their will is a crime in here (though it happens frequently and illegally in eastern parts).
Comment has been collapsed.
I guess I know what you're talking about, misogynistic traditions like marrying against brides' wills or female genitals mutilation are still wide-spread in Islamic regions of Russia, and government chooses to ignore these crimes. Then again, our countries have much in common, and unfortunately I'm not talking about the things we should be proud of.
Comment has been collapsed.
Don't get me started on corruption within contemporary governments. Even though most people are oblivious to the fact that they are like mushrooms, that does not protect them from suffering the consequences. One could argue that people end up the governments they deserve, but evil is evil and I hate it just the same.
Comment has been collapsed.
Every sane muslim who follows the religion correctly and is not corrupted knows that you have no right to marry a woman against their will. noura did nothing wrong and all the man who had something to do in this unhuman incident has to be punished. Sadly, the people in charge are blind and corrupt and blame woman for defending herself.

Normally, when a person uses up all his or her slots, a button appears on the Create Giveaway page to request more slots. Pressing it creates a ticket wherein you may explain how many slots you need and why. While we are not stingy with giveaway slots, we do want to protect people from hurting themselves, so we usually just let people gain them through usage.
What is the total number of slots you think you need?

ignorant Christian here
Am I correct in understanding that this means that you can be excused from mandatory fasting if you're sick? But do get healthy fast! :D
Also, while I'm here being curious and trying to be less ignorant, is it allowed to have water during the day? I imagine spending the entire day without water must be very difficult. :|
Comment has been collapsed.
Sounds pretty tough. The rest should be doable (if difficult), but an entire regular workday without any water... wow. Mad respect for managing a month of that every year without complaint. :|
On the flip side, I suppose it must make you appreciate very keenly just how important water is to us.
Comment has been collapsed.
It's not as hard as it seems, especially in cool weather, a big cold cup of water just before the start of the fast helps you last through the day without feeling too thirsty.
Still, it's recommended to limit the amount of intense physical activity and tough sports or avoid them altogether, it's also very important to rehydrate yourself properly during the night.

The time has come for me and my fellow muslim brothers and sisters. It is Ramadan like every year. Where we fast for 30 days from sunrise until sunset to learn the importance of Self Control, discipline and to feel the suffering of the poor even if its a little. Which teaches us to respect others and not to waste any food and to share with people who have little.
To celebrate it, i will make everyday a giveaway. I thought i start from zero cv giveaways to really good giveaways until the end of ramadan where we have Eid-al-Fitr( Feast of fast breaking). If you want you can contribute by sharing your giveaway links here. I also will empty out my blacklist. Everything is forgiven and forgotten :)
I wish everyone a happy and blessed ramadan full of joy and peace!
Ramadan is over. It was a wonderful experience and many lessons were learned. I wish everyone a wonderful Eid and a happy time with your loved ones.
Thank you all for the nice wishes. I wanted to answer them all personal but i think it gets kind of repetitive and spammy, but i read them all!
For people who want to learn more, here is more information in this chart:
