Honest question, what is with all the hate on Uplay?

I know I don't care for Uplay or Origin and would prefer to have all my games under steam if I could. But why do people have all the hate on Uplay's client? I have 2 games on Uplay so far and they have not given me any problems so far.

I don't hate Uplay at all it have worked me online and offline without any issues, maybe even I”ll gona Buy the Bundle for $10. What I do HATE is Rockstar Games Social Club DRM on GTA V without internet must of times you can't play Single Player it saids: “Unable to access Rockstar servers. Activation of GTA V requires an Internet connection. Please check your connection and click Retry, or click Cancel to quit.” This is RIDICULOUS I already activated the F* Game!!

The question is irrelevant whether we like UPlay or not. Ubisoft is constanly pulling their games from Steam Store (4 games in last 2 days) and make more game titles exclusive to UPlay only, at least the Limited/Gold etc. non-Steam versions currently.

It seems ultimately UPlay will ditch Steam altogether and enforce players to use UPlay only "if" they want to play Ubisoft games. IMHO it's no choice at all since unlike some publishers, most of Ubisoft titles are AAA games...

On my particular case, eternal 'Uplay is updating' loops and erased savegames. More than enough to despise that crap

First of all it isn't "hate".

Such overuse word internetz.

UPlay wrecks my fun when I try to play games on it. Crashy server droppy yuck.

Wait; maybe it is hate. =D

I completely support Ubisoft's right to have their own platform. Ubisoft is the best on the market, as you can get their games on all the 3 big platforms (steam, uplay and origin).

However, I won Assassins Creed Unity in here at launch (yeah it runs great on AMD hardware, even with GameWrecks activated). Bu I had no internet, so downloaded the game via steam at my school on my laptop, then used backup feature to install it on my desktop at home. Tethered my phone to activate it at home, so it all worked great. Then I played the game for like 20 hours, and Uplay derped. So I tried to reinstall uplay, by first uninstalling it. What happened was that it deleted my Watch Dogs folder (did not uninstall it, just deleted the folder), then deleted its own folder, along with all savegames. Because Ubi in all their infinite wisdom, decided that all savegames should be in the uplay folder. Not documents, not windows savegames folder, not game folder, not steams folder. No the uplay folder, which it removed without prompt.

So that's 20 hours of gaming lost, which means I never finished the game. Not sure I ever will. Now it just looks like I'm an ungrateful bastard not playing this expensive game after winning it. :(

Well I have the game legally, so it doesn't matter anymore. It's the loss of the savegame that's the problem.

Personally, I don't know Uplay that well as I only have an Assassins Creed game on it. But I just groan every time I have to use another client with another account. I like the idea of everything being in one place and quick to launch with fewer sign-ins.
