So why not?

Not everyone likes Facebook and why should SteamGifts have one? We have a Steam group, when you want to have a page make an unooficial one.

Are you admin of some sort? A Facebook page really helps every cause. An official page is even more likely to boost the site's image.

Buy adverts for the site when you want more people. The only thing a FB page could help is getting more people (probably leechers and other idiots), else the Steam group does everything and everyone here uses Steam, that's not with FB.

Steam has 5 million users, Facebook has billions.

But everyone here has Steam, not everyone here has FB and a FB page can make that there will be FB exclusive things and that could mean that some people will go away from this site.

Edit: Wow, you really made a page, now you can be happy about that and can make forum post about it.

Valve is pro-Facebook by even awarding achievements for linking the apps. Integrity is the #1 use of Facebook by brands.

Edit: There are 3 pages now btw.

That really doesn't seem fair. I've had Facebook since sometime during the first or second year it was around, and I don't think I'm all that bad.

You just have to see this objective: Most people here got to this site from some gaming related sites or forum. When you advertise on Facebook there are many people that aren't really into gaming and just want to win something and you also can see how dumb are some people on FB are.

I see more intelligent people using Facebook than 'dumb' people.

I haven't said that most are dumb but a FB page will only unnecessary attract such people.

You've been lucky then, the majority of people that I've seen posting on Facebook (some friends, friends of friends and people I don't know at all) are usually just shy of certifiably handicapped or they don't care enough to actually form a complete thought, let alone a complete sentence with even a shred of proper grammar.

I don't really care if people make typo's or misspell words, that happens to everyone, what I really hate are the lazy people who substitute numbers for parts of an entire word or entire words all together.

The excuse of "well I'm on my phone so I don't have time" doesn't fly with me either, smart phones have full keyboards, don't be lazy...

Exactly my point.

Anyone that says that Facebook isn't dominated by females between the ages of 12 and 24 is delusional.

Men of all ages may have a Facebook account but they rarely use it and when they do use it the majority of them are only talking to females that they're "interested in".

(Again, there are always exceptions to a rule, that doesn't change the majority though)

I think they might as well. The people saying, "FB is pointless" are fools. Not having one is even more pointless. Why not draw some more attention.

Edit: thank you everyone now talking about personal FB profiles, you are completely off topic.

It can't hurt having a facebook page. It can only help. So, why not have one?

It depends on what you mean, I think it can't be bad to just have a little fake profile where you only put a name to join some giveaways, but not everyone should have a normal real FB profile. But it's stupid to call people that say FB is pointless fools or saying to not having a FB profile is pointless.

Facebook is good for keeping up with friends. It's a very useful tool. It's also good for marketing purposes. That said, I don't think something like this place necessarily needs a facebook fan page, but it wouldn't really hurt anything, either.

I'm not saying it isn't, but surely you can agree sending a chat message is a bit faster than calling?

And before you mention texting, it's worth noting not everyone has that. A few people I talk to regularly don't have it.

A great big no... Farcebook is The Devil...

One easy reason why of many possible is that when a page reaches a certain point of popularity they hold the content hostage and require the owner of the page to pay up for all posts to be seen by subscribers of the page.

Thanks! I have tried promoting one post and according to my test results and in line with what the article says, in terms of paid promotion of a Facebook post, the post itself should target the right audience and the user should want to interact with the related ad, or else you will pay about $5 for a couple of clicks sent to your promo. With huge brands, they probably do hold back content somehow but I have never seen a post not being sent to me immediately in my newsfeed, yet.

I don't really understand why would need one.
For the social aspect we already have a steam group for that and since facebook is a social networking site I don't think it'll be needed.
If anything the page would be flooded with beggars and people asking why they can't join the site.
