Do not install or use the F2P game PirateFI it is malware as stated here:

https://uk.pcmag.com/security/156674/did-you-download-this-steam-game-sorry-its-windows-malware
https://www.pcgamesn.com/steam/removed-game-malware-piratefi

It looks like it is no longer on Steam and it is yet known if the people behind the listing knew or made the malware

This brings up a question I always had.. does Steam have any mechanisms to prevent virus being uploaded as games?

I believe they do, but nothing is perfect, some things can always slip through

Yes. Gaben comes to your house and bonks you on the head with a steamdeck.

Joking aside, it's a breech of contract, you're expected to sign it and behave in good will or lose your access to steam backend services; they have basic "does it run" and malware tests, but that doesn't stop a dev to "update" the game after approval, or to accidentally get their production machine compromised.

Technically you don't even need to update game, just lock it behind time check.
Don't wannna it inside game? Just connect to a server, load patch from there.

While both methods are used be legit games on Steam already, maybe you don't want it to be detectable at all? Just introdoce subtle buffer overflow bug.

Sad truth is, we'll probably see more of these in future. All threats don't even come from developers, they could be for example using some unity plugin that has exploit inside. fun times we live in.

Oh My God.
This makes me worry about whether other games might also secretly install malware.
