Four legendary titles in one definitive collection. Play the Amiga editions of Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky, plus the PlayStation editions of Broken Sword 1 and 2. Relive the 1990's from Revolution Software and the timeless adventures that shaped a genre.

https://store.steampowered.com/app/267390/Revolution_Editions__Shadow__Steel/

To recap:
Lure of the Temptress (Amiga): "Often considered superior due to its smoother gameplay and superior graphics" plus the first time it comes to steam.
Beneath a Stealth Sky (Amiga 32): Speech and Music (not avaialble in other versions?).
Broken Sword 1+2 (Playstation): Most likely the worse versions out there?

Weird release, but maybe they plan to release more Revolution Editions, those four are their earliest original works.
At least free versions of Lure of the Temtpress and Beneath a Steel Sky are not removed, so yay!

Yeah, I don't know how different the Amiga and PS editions of these games are. Lure of the Temptress seems to be new to Steam. The others might be worth it if the technical immprovements are meaningful enough and for the nostalgia of course. ;)
Beneath a Steel Sky (1994) is free on Steam btw. Very good point-and-click.

Are the playstation editions of broken sword somehow more desireable than the pc versions? Quickly read through a review of the first game and they called it a terrible port with more bugs than the original.

No, the playstation wasn't really a poweful console, it made Discworld Noir a slideshow.

I say the best ones in this would be the amiga versions.

Two of these are free on GOG, the other two was in a Fanatical's Build your own Point and Click Collection for like a buck a piece. Weird to see it cost 17€.

Not only that, but the two Broken Sword games are the inferior PlayStation versions.

I can understand a needlessly expensive good game, but a needlessly expensive bad one is so stupid... thanks for that extra bit of info!

It's crazy how publishers will do anything but make another good game.

"Ah you know what our fans would love? The reforged, remaster, remake, re-ported version of the same game 30 times in a row! They love that shit!".

I'm not sure I understand what happened, because at least three out of four games were given away for free (under different conditions and circumstances), but I love it when publishers remember their legacy and make good official collections with emulators in a fancy design and with additional materials.

These are not the versions that are in the news release, but in case anyone is interested, one game is available on Steam for free:
https://store.steampowered.com/app/1368340/Beneath_a_Steel_Sky_1994/

one game is still available as DLC if you have the remaster
https://store.steampowered.com/app/580440/Broken_Sword_2_Original_Version/

the third one seems to be no longer available, disappeared with the Director's Cut unfortunately, so only if you managed to pick it up at the time
https://store.steampowered.com/app/580430/Broken_Sword_1_Original_Version/

i don't know how the situation is with the new remake of the first game now - are they giving something as a bonus with it or not?

With Broken Sword 1 you get Director's Cut and Original Version, and you can choose which one you want to launch from Steam library menu :)

I looked in SteamDB and it says that they only give the original version with the game. Maybe they only give the choice of what to run to those who have purchased the Director's Cut?
I'm just asking, I'm really interested, but I always thought this release was completely unnecessary and no one asked for it, they were only asked to add achievements like it's been in mobile versions for a long time...

Oh my, I'm sorry I didn't even look at Steam to see that Director's Cut can't be bought anymore and that's the one I have in my library. Unfortunately I don't know a lot about reforged version of the game.

Can anybody explain if the Amiga version of Lure of the Temptress in this collection is different than the DOS/ScummVM version available on GOG?

"Lure of the Temptress" was originally released for the Amiga and later ported to DOS. While both versions offer the same core gameplay and story, the Amiga version is often considered superior due to its smoother gameplay and superior graphics. The DOS version, while functional, had some issues with pathfinding and overall performance, especially in later versions.

Sometimes people prefer an amiga version on older adventure games, sometimes just for the music.

Thanks, in that case I'll leave it on the GOG exclusives list and add a note about the Amiga version being available on Steam

Weird bundle as Lure of the Temptress and Beneath a Steel Sky are free and Broken Sword games go quite cheap. Seems like a lame cash grab.

Probaply not the versions I´d prefer to play, but I´m a big fan of game preservation. Making different, more obscure version of old games available again (even if they are worse) is certainly a concept I support.

I'm not sure about the exact differences here, but many Amiga games had very different (and often better) music than the PC versions. I've played Beneath a Steel Sky only on Amiga, so I don´t know if the PC version is better, worse or the same.

Smoother gameplay and better graphics for Lure of the Temptress atleast, i think that's the best one out of the 4, also for it to be on steam.

Beneath amiga 32 has speech and music (dunno if pc has that, don't think so).

My brain must be really tired today 😅 I could've sworn I've read your full OP and the whole thread, but somehow missed you mentioning this twice already (while the thread isn´t all that big).

Thanks for still taking the time to craft a full answer for me.
