Hum before you just bough a gift copy of it , and then gave it away .
With the recent changes of gifting here is how it works .

You create a giveaway here for the game you want to giveaway.
Once the giveaway ends , you add the winner on steam as friend.
Once he accept your friend request you go to steam and get the game ... but instead of selecting Purchase for Myself you select Purchase as a gift
Once you do that there will be a list with all your friends , and you need to select the giveaway winner from it and proceed to buying the game .

Thats pretty much how it works if you buy stuff on steam and want to give it away here :)

Again tho , IF you are buying a pack of games Eg The Portal Bundle You cannot just keep 1 of the games for yourself and giveaway the other ... you kinda must activate them to your account , thats how it works .

Its kinda complicated with the recent changes to steam gifting .
Basically if you buy a pack of games ( like the portal bundle ) you CANNOT give away 1 of them and keep the other , you can only activate it for yourself .
