Never played Zelda, but I really like ME1 (didn't like ME2 tho, so I didn't even bother with ME3).
also, my vote goes for World of Warcraft (pre-cataclysm). Still counts, right?

Mass Effect is my favourite for sure. I laughed and cried. I was afraid, I cried. I had fun, I cried. I cried, I cried. I gave my life for Normandy (Nice reference, huh? ;D) and... I also cried.

Yeah.
I don't know why, but it's only game series where I deeply cared about my companions. Like it's enought to hear song about certain scientist and I'm instantly in sad and crying state. First game was ok (I don't really care about either of characters that can die at the end of it, so meh), second - it was miracle that I managed to save everyone without looking at some road map before last mission, third is one big trainwreck with me crying every few hours bc of someone.
I love characters from KOTOR as well, but this game series lacks these moral choices / connection to them.

Bioshosck!!!! Even though the second game can go suck a cock, for all I care, the first game is still to this day the best video game EVER MADE and Bioshock Infinite was by far the best game of 2013 and one of the most meaningful experiences I've had with a video game story in YEARS. That's still a better average than most franchises. Better than Mass Effect, for example, since you put it in the list.
