I found that (after the fact), but I'm failing to understand where the 'riddle' is...
I can't find anything in the OP that refers to groups or that group at all.
The only thing that I can think of is that that group was created on 'Monday' but time zone conversion showed it as being made on Sunday (cdt anyway).
Is there something obvious that I'm missing or was this less 'riddle' and more 'look randomly until you get lucky'?

One hint is that this group looks too fishy. Another hint is that link had to be within "reasonable web distance" and "publically available". All hints point to his Steam profile, all you need then is to look for five-symbol code anywhere.

But OGrady said there is no puzzle. It was just a game of find the URL. There were no clues in the text either. None needed apparently because there where enough to find it.

Its not to do with the date. Apparently it was in the URL of a steam group he created. So random searching was the answer.
